Excellent evening at the Bishops Cave. The staff were very helpful and informative in choosing wine and cheeses. We had a lovely bottle of red alongside a fabulous mixed cheese board. Would highly recommend!

From when we walked through the door till we left, the staff were so welcoming, so knowledgeable about the cheeses and the wines, nothing was too much trouble and what we didn't finish they bag up for us to take home, will definitely go back

We’ve been going to Bishop’s Cave since soon after it opened. Can’t think of a better place for a glass of wine and a cheese board. All the staff really know their cheeses, wines and beers; they care about where they source their products and they can tell you a lot about the taste profiles, age and aging of all their cheeses. And the place itself has a great ambience. They haven’t crowded too many tables in, so you always have enough personal and breathing space. My favourite place in St Albans.

A lovely place to have something different from a standard restaurant, good portion sizes to cover 2 people, good choice of cheeses and wine. Bring back the GF Milk Stout!

Love visiting this venue..great selections of wine. Having the choice of cheese allows you to try different ones at each visit. Really good service. Very knowledgeable pleasant staff. Just a great little place to sit chat and enjoy the evening.

I live in St Albans and this is my favourite venue by far. My partner and I eat here at least once every 2 weeks. The food, service, ambience, price and design of the restaurant are all perfect. Please never change a thing!

A lovely couple of hours spent here. Always fully booked up (great sign!) so wise to book before you go. Lovely wine, food and ambiance. Service is outstanding. We’ve booked already for my birthday in April! Thank you to Dan and the team.

Atmospheric location right in the centre of St Albans. We were helped with our selection of wine, with the opportunity to taste a couple. Very pleasant and knowledgeable. Cheese platter was lovely. It was a great birthday treat from my sister, and, with a bowl of olives, it was just the right amount for a light lunch. Everything was more expensive than I remember it from a couple of years ago, but that is the same everywhere. Happy to pay for quality food and excellent service. Must come back more often. It’s only a bus ride away from where I live 😍

Lovely relaxed atmosphere with fairy lights in rustic & quaint setting. Huge choice of cheeses. A whopping choice of wine & some lovely beer choices. Only moan is the stalls are rather uncomfortable so couldn’t sit for too long! Recommend a visit.

It was our first visit, but it had been recommended by family. The place has a lovely vibe and friendly and knowledgeable staff. They have a huge range of cheeses and of wine and a wide selection of beers.

My first time here and I was not disappointed, such a lovely atmosphere to have some nibbles and drinks with friends, a relaxed environment where we were made to feel so welcome and involved in the process. Dan was a gem and he really made our experience better. 😊 Great value for money, delicious cheese and wine.

Overall it was great. A unique little wine & cheese bar. Frustratingly it took about 30mins+ to get one of our cheese-boards and drinks even though we followed up a few times.

It is lovely there but every time I go they don't have something on the menu because of stock issues. I appreciate that they don't want to waste food before closing on certain dates but additionally, when you only have cheese and then 5 other things on the menu then there should be availability.

Nice, clean friendly place to meet friends for a glass or two. Staff are knowledgeable and attentive, the decor is modern and wide range of wines are well-described on the list. The food options are perfect to pair with some delicious wines. Non-alcoholic wine is also available, and I noticed some beers on another table too. We enjoyed the muscadet and the viognier. My friends and I enjoyed our time here.

First time in Bishops Cave and I really enjoyed it, nice atmosphere and could talk to my family without shouting over any noise (loved that). I had some lovely wine (Orimos Grande Reserve) and duck pate, all good. I shared a cheese platter and waitress really helped choose the cheeses and was always friendly and attentive. It was a very pleaurable couple of hours and I will be going again.
