  Dood's Donuts Bring Out the Smiles for Students, Staff

  South's administration awarded the junior class with Uncle Dood's donuts today for their great job and participation in NJGPA testing this week, and this gesture not only brought out the (Irish) smiles for students, but also Supervisor Heather Pentifallo and Assistant Principal John Oberti. After all, the joy is really in the giving, right? And distributing more than 375 delicious Dood's donuts meant a LOT of giving.

  ESL Students Meet Elf on the Shelf

  During the school's first year with the English as a second language (ESL) program, students unfamiliar with the tradition were able to meet Elf of the Shelf in person.   Philly's Christmas Village Hosts German Club

  The German Club took a cultural trip to the Christmas Village in Philadelphia Dec. 7. The Village contains a German-style Christmas market, complete with food and craft vendors designed to mimic the classic Weihnachtsmärkte popular in Germany during the holidays. Students shopped, ate traditional foods like Bratwurst, Spätzle, and Kartoffelpuffer, ice skated and rode a carousel and Ferris wheel.

South was especially appreciative of several downtown businesses including Taco-Tastic, A Thyme for All Seasons, Uncle Dood's, Capone's, Safu Sushi, and Tommy Boy's Cafe that showed support for the staff by donating delicious food!

  German Club Visits DC

  South’s German Club took a trip to Washington, DC April 29. At the Capitol, students visited historic Georgetown University, enjoyed a buffet of authentic German foods at Old Europe restaurant, and then participated in a scavenger hunt of the monuments on the National Mall. This is an annual trip that Herr DeMarco and the HSS German Club have been organizing for 14 years.
