Shane MacGowan’s widow Victoria Mary Clarke has thanked supporters for a ‘magical’ tribute concert for Shane and Sinéad O’Connor in New York.
The Pogues frontman passed away in November following a long illness, while Sinéad passed away six months earlier in London from natural causes.
A tribute concert to both Sinéad and Shane has been held in the iconic Carnegie Hall in New York, with family members of both Shane and Sinéad in attendance — with Victoria Mary sharing a sweet snap of her dancing with Imelda May, whom she said gave her the courage to speak at the concert.

People paid tribute to Victoria Mary following the sweet snap, with one writing ‘I can only imagine how proud you must have felt at this tribute, whilst simultaneously feeling that deep grief again. I still can’t believe we lost 2 of Ireland’s legends within 6 months of each other, as a fan I’m still grieving, i hope you feel the genuine love from us all.’

Also in attendance was Sinéad’s daughter Roisín Waters, who left concertgoers in tears after performing a cover of Nothing Compares 2 U — the song that shot her mother to superstardom.

‘And my god, could you feel the power of musical alchemy in the hall last night. The soaring sharp needle of sung and played notes that tear us asunder and stitch us back together. The way it isn’t about any one thing. The way music can communicate more than mere words ever can.’
