89% 28 Reviews Tomatometer 88% 250+ Ratings Audience Score Partially inspired by co-creator Mike Judge's experiences as a Silicon Valley engineer in the 1980s, this comedy series follows the misadventures of introverted computer programmer Richard and his brainy friends as they attempt to strike it rich in a high-tech gold rush. They live together in a Bay Area startup incubator loosely run by self-satisfied dot-com millionaire Erlich, who lets them stay in his house rent-free in exchange for a stake in the projects they invent there. But when Richard develops a powerful search algorithm at his day job, he finds himself caught in the middle of a bidding war between his boss -- whose firm offers Richard an eight-figure buyout -- and a deep-pocketed venture capitalist. tom m A bit of comic relief. Entertaining enough. T.J. Miller's character is a bit hard to take in anything other than the tiniest doses. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Silicon Valley: Season 5 another fun season of the beloved IT gang Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member While the first seasons felt like they actually had a decent grip on software development and the valley companies, it's now just repetitive farce sinking ever deeper into the swamp of mediocrity. All the characters have descended into caricatures of themselves which, given that they were caricatures to start with, makes them feel so artificial that it's impossible to muster even an ounce of interest in what happens to them. By now you also know that no matter how bad things are going you can be sure that some technomagical act of god will make the Piper team come out on top. It doesn't matter if they are smart, brave, stand-up or just dumb jerks. They are rewarded with success anyway, because when you can't be bothered to craft an interesting story or have anything to tell that's just the easiest and safest way to coast along until the end of the final season. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member The lost of Urlich is felt this season, but the show is still funny. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review gustavo n Although some things never change, this comes to do more good than bad. Very satisfied with the 5th season. The store line could use something more than the same recipe from the start, I cannot say that the way they choose to go was bad. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member What a farcical, pseudo intellectual show, reinforcing stereotypes of the valley. completely rotten. Dan Einav Financial Times Still one of the best on TV, even without the brilliantly coarse TJ Miller. Rated: 3/5 Aug 31, 2018 Full Review Patrick Ryan USA Today So how does Silicon move forward without Erlich?... Pretty easily, actually. Jun 14, 2018 Full Review Bob Fekete Newsweek Plays it safe in terms of story and jokes, but does a good job of setting up the rest of the season. Jun 14, 2018 Full Review Mikel Zorrilla Espinof One episode was enough to verify that it is still as fun as ever. [Full Review in Spanish] Jul 24, 2019 Full Review Sean Mulvihill FanboyNation.com Season Five is perhaps the best season of the show and has moved everything - the characters, Pied Piper, the comedy - forward and ensured that I'm fully onboard for the sixth season whenever it debuts. Rated: 4/5 Oct 29, 2018 Full Review Alan French AwardsCircuit.com Hopefully, Judge can keep this show rolling through the season at the level of the premiere.
