Scrappy Little Nobody Gebundene Ausgabe – 15. November 2016
Kaufoptionen und Plus-Produkte
An “honest, effortlessly funny, and alternatively relatable” (Harper’s Bazaar) collection of autobiographical essays by the Academy Award-nominated actress and star of Up in the Air, Pitch Perfect, and Trolls, “Scrappy Little Nobody lets readers feel like they have spent an afternoon chatting with their closest friend” (Booklist).
Even before she made a name for herself on the silver screen starring in films like Pitch Perfect, Up in the Air, Twilight, and Into the Woods, Anna Kendrick was unusually small, weird, and “10 percent defiant.”
At the ripe age of thirteen, she had already resolved to “keep the crazy inside my head where it belonged. Forever. But here’s the thing about crazy: It. Wants. Out.” In Scrappy Little Nobody, she invites readers inside her brain, sharing extraordinary and charmingly ordinary stories with candor and winningly wry observations.
With her razor-sharp wit, Anna recounts the absurdities she’s experienced on her way to and from the heart of pop culture as only she can—from her unusual path to the performing arts (Vanilla Ice and baggy neon pants may have played a role) to her double life as a middle-school student who also starred on Broadway to her initial “dating experiments” (including only liking boys who didn’t like her back) to reviewing a binder full of butt doubles to her struggle to live like an adult woman instead of a perpetual “man-child.”
Enter Anna’s world and follow her rise from “scrappy little nobody” to somebody who dazzles on the stage, the screen, and now the page—with an electric, singular voice, at once familiar and surprising, sharp and sweet, funny and serious (well, not that serious).

Anna is honest and relatable, very relatable if you ask me. She has stayed down to earth and has a fantastic work ethic. She doesn’t consider herself to be famous although she has worked with the likes of George Clooney and Ben Affleck but what is really interesting is that Anna started out in theatre on Broadway. She shows that being in Hollywood isn’t all that glamourous and that thinking acting is overrated is a lie.
Oddly enough Clint Eastwood thought that becoming an actor would be easy work shows what he knew but the again he is one of the best actors in the world IMO.
Anyway I really enjoyed this book it is funny, a riot to read and well honest to a fault. She doesn’t take herself particularly serious which makes her endearing and well in a way normal I guess.
I recommend it and I truly hope that her career shall continue to strive as she is scrappy but she isn’t a nobody anymore.
As a big fan of Anna Kendrick, I was planning to buy the book. But a review below told me that the Audiobook would be read by Anna herself. So I got that and started listening. It's unusual to write memoirs at such a young age, so I didn't expect an extraordinary journey. But still I enjoyed it very much.
It feels like a very long interview in which Anna tells us the stories which made her how she is today.
So if you are a fan of Anna Kendrick, this is an very fun and interesting read/listen.

That being said, as someone who isn’t really a reader and started audible with this as the first book…there’s definitely lots to like here.
So much (entertaining, interesting, genuine and maybe even relatable) stuff which you would never hear or know about unless you were in one’s shoes / life. If she brings out another book, I for one will definitely get it and read / listen through it, this was money well spent.
If you’re thinking of getting this, don’t hesitate.
