This is a very interesting personal history of the founding and growth of the International Baccalaureate and the United World Colleges. It details the initial struggles, and subsequent explosive popularity of the International Baccalaureate program, and the educational philosophies that makes it so popular. It has been updated to about 2002, though these updated chapter miss out on the personal tone of the founding history.
