Happy Friday & welcome to the First Line Friday link-up! It’s time to grab the book nearest to you and leave a comment with the first line. Today I’m featuring the first line of A Cry in the Dark by Jessica R. Patch. I love Jessica’s books – they’re deliciously creepy (just the right amount) and so suspenseful! Plus her writing voice is delightful 🙂
and the first line is…
“Fifteen months ago, Adam had promised to let her go.”
Let me know the first line of the book closest to you & then click on the images below to visit more FLF participants!

This one is on my TBR list. I keep hearing great things about it. These are the first lines from The Women of Easter by Liz Curtis Higgs.
She sat in the pew across from us, dressed entirely in yellow. No more than four years old, she was utterly adorable, from the circlet of yellow flowers in her hair to her lacy dress, pale tights, and Mary Jane shoes.
This definitely does sound creepy. Hope you enjoy.
This comes from A Novel Proposal by Denise Hunter: Sadie Goodwin’s literary dreams came to a shuddering halt in the middle of her favorite SoHo coffee shop. She blocked out the honking traffic and the May sun streaming through the plate-glass window. Blocked out the lively chatter and cheerful tinkling of a spoon inside a coffee mug and leaned toward her agent. “What did you say?”
I still haven’t read this author but need to give her a try. Have a great day!!
This sounds like one I’d love to read!
My First Line Friday, from The Perfumist of Paris by Alka Joshi:
“Imagine running amid a field of lavender bushes with your friends. Playing hide-and-seek between rows of jasmine vines.” Antoine closed his eyes.
Want to read this one!
Drew Morgan wiped the sweat from his brow and leaned against the barn door.
THE BABY INHERITANCE by Tina Radcliffe
I’m currently reading A Match in the Making by Jen Turano. It’s so fun!
“I don’t believe you’ve thoroughly considered our current situation, Mrs. Parker,” Gwendolyn said as she stuffed a bathing costume into the woven bag she was packing.
I hope you have a great weekend! 😀❤️📚
Definitely sounds creepy! Probably not my style, but I’m glad you’re enjoying it!
Sounds great. On my wish list.
I hope you enjoy this one. It sure sounds creepy.
This sounds like a good, intense read!
