Postmaster General, Presidential Cabinet Secretary, Statesman, Merchant. He served as a Colonel in the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. He was appointed by President George Washington as the first United States Postmaster General, serving from 1789 to 1791.

Per his Congressional biography, Mr. Osgood's remains were reinterred in Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn, N.Y., June 12, 1856. See: https://history.house.gov/People/Detail/19209
