Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds share hilarious announcement for Wrexham Women - The Wrexham Insider

Wrexham have confirmed a new deal with American banking brand Ally to sponsor the Wrexham Women – and pave the way for a summer tour.

Wrexham will be heading back to the United States this summer.

The club confirmed on Friday that a friendly against Premier League giants Chelsea has been arranged and will take place in Santa Clara.

Two more fixtures will be confirmed as part of the ‘2024 Wrex Coast Tour’, with the trip initially thought to be just the men’s team.

Well, Wrexham Women will be heading to the United States too after Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds confirmed a new sponsorship.

McElhenney and Reynolds have today confirmed a sponsorship deal with American banking brand Ally.

Using a mock press conference, McElhenney confirmed that Ally’s sponsorship would see the Wrexham Women head to America in the summer.

This couldn’t just be a sponsorship though as the mock press conference simply had to feature Reynolds poking fun at McElhenney.

Reynolds hilariously brought up some of McElhenney’s ‘reckless spending’, highlighting trips to Las Vegas, the temporary Kop and the hit TV show ‘Welcome to Wrexham’.

The club’s official statement notes that Ally will be sponsoring the Wrexham Women as well as the men’s ‘Wrex Coast Tour’.

The main focus is on the women though, with Wrexham highlighting Ally as a ‘leading brand in women’s sports’.

There have been growing calls in the fanbase for the Wrexham Women to be given the chance to go on tour too, and the trip is now in the calendar.

Wrexham Women lost 3-2 to Swansea City on Sunday but the hope is that more exposure can help make Wrexham Women a household name, just like the men have become in recent years.

Andrea Brimmer, Chief Marketing and Public Relations officer at Ally, called the Wrexham Women ‘massively talented’ with US audiences now set to see them in action.

This is another great step in the right direction for Wrexham and the news has certainly gone down well.
