From "The Alchemy:" "He jokes that it's heroin, but this time with an e," surface level reading of that line is like the relationship is like a drug but heroin + e = "heroine" which is cute! But "e" is also a slang term for ecstasy, so "heroin with an e" can also mean "this love is as potent as TWO drugs!"

-No one's ever really had my heart like you do (just purely happy, without the doubts and anxieties that plagued my past relationships).
-No one's ever had my back like you do (i.e., none of my past partners have celebrated and supported me like you do).
-But there's also "had" in the sexual sense...which fits with some of the other implications of the song!

So I think it connects to that. However it coming right after the sexual lines makes me also think sexual chemistry 😂
Ah, that's another meaning! "Had" as in "understood" - so she's saying no one else has ever understood her as well (or understood what she most needed from a partner). I think this plays into the sexual chemistry as well - as beyond immediate attraction that's all about communication and attention to the detail of what your partner needs.

This is how I interpret it based on how she sings it. I think this song is less of a specific recounting than a lot of people seem to, though. I think she is alluding to how she is viewed by different men: this new one (Travis, we assume) sees her as something wonderful and worthy of reverence, with a deep respect for her place in his life while to previous men (likely Matty), she has been more like a drug, intoxicating and addicting but also something that wears off and is not respected for what it actually is.

Also - I’m surprised that people aren’t talking more about him still having an addiction of something and how that also affected her. I can’t recall the songs, but there’s one where she said in public he would show her off, but in private he would slink off into stoned oblivion. Then of course, him trying to buy pills from a friend of a friend. And then in the poem Stevie nicks wrote, she is referencing him in a way that makes it seem he was constantly high. Also her saying he needed drugs more and she couldn’t watch it happen in another song. It seems that even when together, he was constantly on something. I wouldn’t be surprised if she told Travis and that’s why he joked about it. There were a lot of issues between them - her fame and her fans were not all of it.
I don't think this at all - the line is talking about Travis winning football games and he's joking that he's not taking any drugs to win, but it's Taylor that's helping him, hence heroin with an e.
This is an unpopular opinion but I think the alchemy is actually about matty - he’s saying he’s got heroin again but this time with an E. I think the sports framing is a metaphor that coincidentally ended up fitting her next boyfriend. The song makes a lot of references to returning to an old love etc, just like all the other songs. I think if she weren’t dating a football player right now there would be no question that this song is about the same person as the other love songs on part 1.
Unpopular opinion or no you’ve convinced me! I felt this song was strangely melancholic to be about Kelce. Touch down = her plane touching down in MH’s country. “I haven’t come around in so long” / “the sign on your heart said it’s still reserved for me” those lines just wouldn’t make sense if it wasn’t about a rekindled love lol. Plus the “blokes” Britishism. In retrospect seems obvious - now I’m wondering how much of the football double entendres were intentional? Maybe she wrote this song and then revisited it/leaned more into the football imagery after she began dating Kelce? Because it also seems less coincidence and more wink
