This new birth introduces us to horror that we never realized was possible! The Woodhouse's move to a new apartment complex to have a child, only for the wife to suspect that their new neighbors are hiding something quite sinister. Drawing on paranoia and the occult, this iconic film manages to keep us in awe and suspense until the bitter end!

While I wouldn't necessarily consider it one of the scariest movies I've ever seen, it is definitely eerie and involving, masterfully directed by Polanski. Viewers with short attention spans may be irked by the expository nature of the film, but I absolutely appreciate a filmmaker who is willing to take his/her time to slowly build the suspense. Obviously things that may have seemed shocking 50 years ago don't seem quite so frightful from a 2019 point of view, but I was definitely engrossed in the drama. And if ever a horror movie relied on the brilliance of its leading lady, this is the one. Farrow is riveting and downright harrowing in the leading role, and it's a travesty she wasn't even Oscar nominated. She bares a striking resemblance to Gwyneth Paltrow in this role. Gordon actually won the Supporting Actress Academy Award that year, but I'm afraid I found her performance over the top and slightly abrasive. But this is top notch movie making but a master director, and this is a movie I can see myself revisiting because of the sheer bravado of the filmmaking and for Farrow's performance. What an underrated actress!

Whenever I think of the best horror. Rosemary's Baby always comes to mind, from its suspension and its cinematography. Its a classic that performs every aspect to the highest possible quality. There's been few horror movies that have captured the sense of emotion seen in Rosemary's Baby. Its a movie that benefits from multiple rewatches with its deep themes expressed throughout its runtime. Its truly a masterpiece of cinema and one of the best horror movies of our time.
