Kaukauna

Elaine A. Simpson - Kaukauna - Age 84. Loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and neighbor died peacefully in the presence of her family on Friday, March 1, 2024. She was born in Kimberly on October 16, 1939, the daughter of the late Harry A. and Ethel (Bongers) Van Nuland. Elaine was united in marriage to Ronald Simpson on Sept. 23, 1958, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Little Chute, and shared 65 years together. She was employed at Kaukauna Cheese and with various cleaning services through the years that included 20 years at Quinney Elementary School and 10 years at Tanner Elementary School. Elaine loved to volunteer in the lunch program at Tanner for years and loved all the little hugs and smiles. In her free time, she loved going up north camping in Shawano, Mountain, and Lakewood with her family and attending cousins’ lunches. Elaine loved going to her grandchildren’s sporting events and musicals at school and she was so proud of them. She was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Kaukauna. Elaine is survived by her husband: Ronald; sons: Randy (Karen) Simpson, Shawano, and Rick (Joan) Simpson, Crooked Lake; daughters: Rhonda (Wayne) Vandenberg, Appleton, and Renee (Chris) Frank, Kaukauna; grandchildren: Tyler (Alex) Frank, Appleton, and Katie Frank (special friend Joseph Melvin), Kaukauna; brothers- and sisters-in-law: Lyle Friebel, Rich Leffel, Pat (Vic) Springstroh, Mike Simpson, and Keith Simpson; other relatives, and friends. In addition to her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by Ronald’s parents: George and Gladys (Spice) Simpson; sisters: Roseann (Ray) Toonen, Marlene Friebel, Donna Van Nuland, and Judy Leffel; brother: Bob Van Nuland; sister-in-law: Betty (Ray) Vanden Bloomer; and grandparents: Martin and Nettie Bongers and Henry and Johanna Van Nuland. She is further preceded in death by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Visitation will be held Saturday, March 16, at IMMANUEL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST (510 Sullivan Street, Kaukauna) from 9 a.m. until time of funeral at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Lynn Martin officiating.
