Nashville, TN (August 16, 2021)
Marking his foray into Gospel Country/Bluegrass, Billy Ray Cyrus takes a small departure from his current mainstream genres and returns to his Kentucky roots—along with a Cyrus family collaboration—with a new song, “Roll That Rock,” a Gospel-infused alt-country acoustic song in which he co-wrote and recorded with younger cousin Bobby Cyrus and Bobby’s wife, Teddi Cyrus.

Bobby, the younger cousin of Billy Ray, didn’t really solidify a bond with his famous family member until the mid-2000s when both of their fathers passed within months of each other. Prior to that, Bobby—an aspiring songwriter—had a few Christian, country & bluegrass cuts, but to Billy Ray’s urging later came to Nashville and in 2015 met and married Teddi Leigh, and the rest is history.

Bobby & Teddi Cyrus, a newly formed duo—in addition to being newlyweds—are recent signees to South Carolina-based bluegrass label Pinecastle Records, having just released their debut self-titled album in April 2021. With “Roll That Rock,” fans—both new and old—will have a brief but deeper glimpse into the Cyrus family musical roots of Kentucky bluegrass, stringed/acoustic instrumentation, and timeless Gospel messages.
