Victoria B Absolutely charming short, the animation and art style was stunning as well. Storyline was endearing and the production value was stellar. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/25/23 Full Review Matthew D A heartfelt world of fuzzy felt creatures. Directors Daniel Ojari and Mikey Please's stop-motion musical comedy Robin Robin (2021) is a charming short film. I loved the felt puppets with a soft texture and expressive stop-motion animations from the great animators at Aardman. I love that Robin Robin is a charming Christmas special and a brisk 30 minutes that never overstays its cheerful welcome with an uplifting holiday spirit. Writers Daniel Ojari, Mikey Please, and Sam Morrison create a cute story of self discovery wherein Robin has to realize there are benefits to being a bird, like flight, rather than just fitting in with the other mice. It's sweet and positive with a silly humor that got several laughs and smiles out of me. It's got an amusing sense of humor with stellar felt figure based puppets and slick stop-motion from Aardman of Wallace & Gromit fame. The felt puppets are adorable as Robin Robin is simply adorable. I found Robin Robin enchanting and beautiful. Casting director Lucy Rands did a nice job of casting voice actors with whimsy and warmth to their vocals. Bronte Carmichael is pleasant and playful as the hopeful heroine bird Robin. You can hear her insecurity and dreams for Robin in Bronte Carmichael's sweet innocent voice acting. Richard E. Grant is hilarious as the materialistic Magpie bird. His song about wanting things is a riot. Gillian Anderson sounds really sultry and wicked as the evil cat. Her song about wanting to eat Robin is funny in a dark and twisted sort of way. Adeel Akhtar sounds so concerned, supportive, and kind as the father mouse. Cinematographer Dave Alex Riddet shoots with warm, soft lighting and smooth camera panning that quickly follows Robin around on her journey of self discovery. Art directors Richard Edmunds and Simon Farrell bring that warm holiday cheer with the soft yellow and orange glow to Robin Robin's lighting as well as the pretty snowfall that gently caresses the screen. Composers Beth Porter and Benedict Please's short film score is pleasant and playful with lovely children's choir vocals and a plucky orchestral sound. The songs are lively, cute, and clever. In short, I adored Robin Robin even if it is a very simple short film. I'm sure families will enjoy Robin Robin around the holiday season for years to come. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/17/23 Full Review Maren A Robin Robin is uplifting and fun, with a unique animation style that enhances the child-like aspects of the movie and characters. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/08/23 Full Review Isabel T I thought this short film was exceptional. I appreciated how the lesson was you can't fit into something you want too be when your different. It's a good film and it was very heartwarming to watch. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/15/22 Full Review Kyden S I thought it was decent, it wasn't too bad but it wasn't too good either. Clarisse Loughrey Independent (UK) Despite its cosy, familiar tale of finding home within an adoptive family, Robin Robin marks a major break from tradition for Aardman Animations. Rated: 4/5 Nov 28, 2021 Full Review Anita Singh Daily Telegraph (UK) This is not in the league of Aardman's greatest hits, A Grand Day Out or Chicken Run, but it's warm and fuzzy - quite literally fuzzy, with the stop-motion creatures made of felt and bringing back old memories of Fingerbobs. Rated: 3/5 Nov 24, 2021 Full Review Shannon Connellan Mashable Every last frame of 'Robin Robin' is a feast for the eyes, especially when there's a literal feast being covertly ransacked by animals onscreen. Jul 28, 2023 Full Review Nuha Hassan Nuha Hassan Robin Robin is a fantastic animation that aims to highlight strengths rather than weaknesses. The short is beautiful, likeable and believes that it celebrates individuality and differences. Jul 21, 2023 Full Review Christopher Connor Flickering Myth This is certainly one of Aardman’s strongest efforts in recent years and for a studio that has earnt such a level of consistent acclaim that is high praise Rated: 5/5 Jul 19, 2023 Full Review Amber Wilkinson Eye for Film The action also feels under-powered in places, with set pieces mainly reminding you of other, more accomplished Wallace & Gromit outings, while you long for a bit more of the Gruffalo's heart.
