Meet Robert Webb

We're ready to see his Rumba in action!

Put your hands together for TV funny man (and soon-to-be ballroom dancer) Robert Webb!

It's just a really big, massive, beautiful entertainment show

Robert's comedy career began back at Cambridge University, where he joined the famous Footlights Dramatic Club and performed alongside many household names, including his future comedy partner David Mitchell. Just starting out on the scene, the pair took their Mitchell and Webb comedy shows on tour and wrote sketches for TV series Big Train and Armstrong and Miller. In 2001 the duo were given their own sketch show, before becoming the stars of iconic British comedy Peep Show in 2003. The unique sitcom won the pair two BAFTAs, two British Comedy Awards and the prestigious Rose D'Or for Best Comedy.

It was only up from there, as they went on to record five series of That Mitchell and Webb Sound for BBC Radio 4 and won BAFTAs for their TV adaptation, That Mitchell and Webb Look. Since then, Robert has found solo success in The Smoking Room, Fresh Meat, Argumental and Robert's Web to name a few, and not forgetting his winning Flashdance routine for Let's Dance For Comic Relief in 2009. We're hoping he brings the same energy to our Ballroom this year!

Robert's also taken to the West End stage in shows such as Jeeves and Wooster: Perfect Nonsense and Fat Pig. Outside of performing, he's authored two books - non-fiction memoir How Not To Be a Boy and novel Come Again.

That's quite a career to add to, but Strictly is sure to be the perfect cherry on top! "There’s such a good feeling about the show because it's like, ‘let's work out a dance and then show the grownups and then the grownups actually give you marks out of 10!’. It's just a really big, massive, beautiful entertainment show," he said.

We couldn't agree more!
