THIS NEWS BREAKS MY HEART.
POKER GAMES WERE HELD ON MONDAYS AT MY APARTMENT WHILE AT PCOM--1963-67. WE WERE ALL STUDENTS EXCEPT FOR BOB. I BABYSAT MY 18 MONTH OLD SON, NOW A NEUROLOGIST, WHILE MY WIFE WORKED EVENINGS. DR. BOB WAS A GOOD PLAYER BUT ALWAYS MANAGED TO LOSE OR FOLD( THE WINNING HAND, NO DOUBT) AT THE LAST CARD SO ALL OF US WOULD HAVE SOME SPENDING MONEY. HE WAS A KIND MAN AND A PERFECT GENTLEMAN. HIS SMILE AND WINK BETRAYED HIS RECURRING LOSSES AT OUR NICKEL/DIME GAME. HIS WIT AND REPARTEE KEPT US ALL FROM CONCENTRATING ON THE STRESSES OF MEDICAL SCHOOL. AS SENIORS, WE COULD APPROACH DR.BOB WITH ANY CLINICAL PROBLEM. WE WERE NEVER RUSHED, ALWAYS CARED FOR AND ABOUT.
THERE WILL NOT BE ANOTHER LIKE HIM.
OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH HIS FAMILY. WE WILL MISS HIM. HE WAWS NEVER FORGOTTEN AND IS INCLUDED IN A CHAPTER OF A BOOK I AM CURRENTLY WRITING.
MAY HE ENJOY ETERNAL PEACE AND REST.
