Top notch museum. Said it covers 6000 years in 50,000 objects. It does so beautifully. Art and object d' arte are well spaced for a good look-see and are well documented. The Fabrege collection is worth the visit, but there's more! Antiquities of fine quality. Well represented in art genres.
Cafe has very good food and well made coffee with a variety of selections. Even wine is sold.

This was a beautiful garden / park. We wanted a day of getting "out of the city" and a local had recommended this place. It is massive and very easy to walk the entire garden. Not all places are ADA compliant as some paths had lots of stairs or stepping stones on the water.

A great place for the kids to run around.

The light display was fabulous. We started our tour in the conservatory where there are beautiful large plants. Some rare others not but Hugh! Such a worthwhile visit.

Huge cemetery! I visited to find the graves of James Monroe, John Tyler and Jefferson Davis. The latter of which I found thanks to an extremely helpful Cemetery employee. This is one of three places that has multiple presidents buried there-along with Arlington National Cemetery (Taft & Kennedy) and United First Parish Church (John and John Quincy Adams).

This was a very good tour. Our guide was so knowledgeable of the history of the civil war and Jefferson Davis and his family.

For being just a state capitol building, it definitely was much more imposing than I imagined - both from an exterior and interior point of view. Worth a walk through just to take a peek.

A one-mile strip of shops and cafes and restaurants SO reminiscent of Berkeley CA. A man playing a digereedoo on the street. Diverse and happy crowd strolling along. Deserved more time than we gave it.

I visited St. John’s Episcopal Church in October 2023. I went first to the Visitor Center. For $5, I was able to go inside the church. A Docent pointed out where Patrick Henry stood to give his famous “Give me Liberty or give me Death” speech in 1775. The Docent also explained the history of the church. It was a very worthwhile place to visit.

I have been to many holocaust museums throughout the world. This might be one of the smallest, but most poignant and powerful I've ever visited. It does a great job of taking you throughout the war and displaying the atrocities in a realistic way. I think it's done in a fashion that's easily digestible for kids, though I think this is best left for teens and older. If you are in Richmond, this is a do not miss if you want to learn more about history.

Comprehensive, well-balanced, and modern introductory movie, well worth 15 minutes. The Julia Child exhibit was chock full of interesting moments and insights. Each wing has a special focus; enjoyed the "regions of VA" enhanced by large-scale photographs and sound effects and also the more traditional chronological history. Great for adults, good for teens, and there is a section for kids but we breezed by it. Thankfully, it doesn't dwell heavily on Civil War (although it cannot be ignored) and the museum emphasizes that "the lost cause" is part of history, but does not reflect actual history.

Small museum, but full of very interesting artifacts, not only about Poe but time period as well. Has a very 'Poe' feeling even if he didn't actually live in the house. It is worth a stop in Richmond for any one interested in Edgar Allan Poe.

We took a one mile walk from our hotel located next to the Convention Center to the river and proceeded to make a 6-mile loop from there on a portion of the large network of trails and pathways. Some were clearly marked and some were unmarked. We walked along both sides of the river, across both pedestrian bridges, and enjoyed it all.
