Richard Alex "Dickie" Ford, age 54, of Southport, North Carolina passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.
Mr. Ford was born October 8, 1968 in Asheville, NC, son of the late Robert Alex Ford and Linda Smith Ashburner. He was a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge in Hickory, North Carolina. He served in many capacities with the Moose, but his favorite was on the ritual team. Richard worked for the City of Hickory for 16 years. He loved fishing and spent at least two weeks a year at Atlantic Beach. Richard was a Lego fanatic, he enjoyed building Lego replicas of the boats in the NC Ferry System and entire Lego cities. In 2018, Richard became a single leg amputee but he never let that slow him down. If he loved you, he loved you big.
Survivors include his wife, Christy Ford; a goddaughter, Molly Shore; two brothers, Stan Smith and wife Melia, and Bobby Ford; a sister, Mary Ford Justice; a niece, Katelin Chambers and husband Alan; step-father, Michael Ashburner; and two fur babies, Charlie and Snoopy.
At Richard's request, no services will be held and his ashes will be spread at Atlantic Beach at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the SECU Hospice House of Brunswick, 955 Mercy Lane, Bolivia, North Carolina 28461.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.peacocknewnamwhite.com for the Ford family.
