Mr Furrat Amen is a Consultant ENT/Head and Neck, Thyroid and Parathyroid Surgeon at Peterborough City Hospital and Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge. He is the Chair of the Regional Head and Neck Cancer Committee. He studied medicine at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, London followed by training in ENT at the Radcliffe Infirmary, Oxford. He was a Specialist Registrar in the North Thames London Rotation based at the Royal National Throat Nose and Ear Hospital, Royal Marsden Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital, London. He completed genetics research at the Hammersmith Hospital, London, and was awarded a Masters degree in Surgical Sciences from Imperial College, London.

He was the international head and neck cancer surgical fellow at the Institut Gustave Roussy, Paris, France’s national and international referral centre for cancer and thyroid surgery and was awarded the Diploma of Head and Neck Cancer Studies at the University of Paris. His main interests are all forms of adult and paediatric ENT Surgery, head and neck cancer and thyroid surgery, and translational genetics cancer research allowing for personalised cancer treatment.

Dr Nadia Benmoussa-Rebibo​

Dr. Benmoussa-Rebibo is an ENT and Head and Neck and Reconstructive Surgeon in  the Head and Neck department at Gustave Roussy, Paris. She also specialises in paleopathology of the head and neck (AnthropoLAB-UVSQ).

​

She holds a Doctorate of Science from the University of Versailles Saint Quentin in Yvelines, a Diploma of Head and Neck Cancer Studies, a Diploma in microsurgery, a  Diploma in head and neck anatomy, a Diploma in plastic surgery of the face, a Diploma in injection and filling techniques, and a university degree in osteo-archaeological and forensic techniques.

Dr. Nadia Benmoussa-Rebibo is a member of the French Group for the Study of Head and Neck Tumors (GETTEC), the Head and Neck Radiotherapy Oncology Group (GORTEC), the French Society of Cervicofacial Carcinology (SFCCF ) and the French Society for the History of Medicine. Dr. Benmoussa-Rebibo is the author of around thirty publications.

Dr Stéphane Temam

​

Dr Temam is an ENT and Head and Neck Surgeon. He is the Head of the Departments of Head and Neck Oncology, Anaesthesia, Surgery and Interventional Medicine at Gustave Roussy, Paris.

​

In addition to his Medical degree specializing in ENT, he is also a doctor of science (PhD) from the University of Paris-Saclay and holds Diplomas in Head and Neck Cancer Studies, European Diploma in clinical research in oncology (DUERCC), and a Diploma in Clinical Oncology.

​

Dr. Temam is President of the French Group for the Study of Head and Neck Tumors (GETTEC), and a member of the Head and Neck Radiotherapy Oncology Group (GORTEC), of the French Society of Cervicofacial Carcinology (SFCCF) and the French Society of ENT and Head and Neck Surgery (SFORL).

His area of ​​expertise is the global multidisciplinary management from diagnosis to treatment, in particular surgical, of adult and child patients with a benign or malignant ENT tumours of the head and neck (carcinoma or sarcoma), in particular of the oral cavity (tongue and  mandible), oropharynx (tonsils and base of tongue), larynx (vocal cords), hypopharynx (piriform sinus and oesophagus), facial masses (nose, nasal fossa, ethmoid, maxillary and sphenoid sinuses, base of the skull, orbit, pterygo-maxillary and infratemporal fossa), the nasopharynx, and the salivary glands (parotid, submandibular gland, etc.) in the primary presentation or in cases of recurrence.

So that his patients can benefit from innovations as quickly as possible, he is a co-investigator of several clinical research studies in Head and Neck oncology at Gustave Roussy.

​

Dr. Temam is the author of a hundred scientific publications and coordinates several courses and teaching programmes.

Professor Hisham Mehanna

PhD, BMedSc (hons), MBChB (hons), FRCS, FRCS (ORL-HNS)

Professor Hisham Mehanna is the Deputy Pro-Vice Chancellor, Chair of Head and
Neck Surgery, and Director of the Institute of Head and Neck Studies and Education,
at the University of Birmingham, UK.

Hisham’s clinical interests are recurrent head and neck cancer surgery. Prof
Mehanna established and ran the UK’s first clinic dedicated to the multi-disciplinary
treatment of head and neck and thyroid cancer recurrence.

Hisham has a keen interest in clinical and translational research, heading a research
team of 20 researchers, and holding over £17 million in research grants. His main area
of his research resolves around improving the management of head and neck cancer
through the use of innovative treatments and dynamic risk stratification and
assessment. His research spans translational research, early and late phase clinical
trials. He is chief investigator of several multicentre and multinational clinical trials,
including the PET NECK trial, published in the NEJM in 2016, and the De-escalate
study (Lancet 2018) and EPIC HPV (Lancet Onc 2023).

He is also the President of the Head and Neck Cancer Inter Group (the umbrella
organisation of 20 national clinical trials groups), and the past President of the British
Association of Head Neck Oncologists (BAHNO), and the past Chair of the UK’s
National Cancer Research Institute’s head and neck group, responsible for all head
neck cancer research in the UK.

Professor Haitham Mirghani

Professor of Head and Neck Surgery, European Hospital Georges Pompidou, Paris

Professor Haitham Mirghani studied medicine at the University of Paris XII. He was an ENT registrar in Lille and then spent five years as a head and neck surgery fellow in Paris and 8 years as a consultant at the Institut Gustave Roussy, France’s national and international referral centre for cancer. He was awarded several diplomas in the field of head and neck cancer. His main clinical activity is head and neck cancer surgery, including thyroid surgery and free flap reconstruction. His research interests are mainly devoted to HPV induced head and neck cancers.

Mr Amer Durrani

BSc (Hons), MB BS, FRCS, MSc (Dist), FRCS(Plast)

Amer Durrani is a Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge. He specialises in the surgical management of all types of skin cancer including basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and malignant melanoma. He undertakes sentinel lymph node biopsy for malignant melanoma and lymphadenectomy surgery (removal of lymph glands containing metastatic cancer cells).

​

He specialises in reconstructive surgery following skin and other types of cancer and has a sub-specialty interest in microsurgical reconstruction.

​

Since 2009, He has been the plastic surgery lead for skin cancer for Cambridgeshire, based at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, and have a specialist research interest in both melanoma & non-melanoma skin cancer, recruiting to regional, national  and international skin cancer trials.

​

He set up the regional sentinel lymph node biopsy service for malignant melanoma in 2009 at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, and since then has helped to establish the metastatic melanoma multidisciplinary weekly meeting and more recently introduced the technique of electrochemotherapy for management of advanced skin cancer metastases.

​

He regularly undertakes combined cases with the Maxillofacial, ENT, skull base, and neurosurgical teams at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
