  • Crazy Ex-Girlfriend star Rachel Bloom shared before-and-after photos from her recent breast reduction.

  • The 34-year-old has wanted the surgery since her recent pregnancy left her chest “soft,” sagging, and uncomfortable.

  • She suffered from rashes, neck pain, and night sweats due to her large breasts.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend star Rachel Bloom has wanted a breast reduction for a while, according to the actress and writer, and last week, the time finally came. In an August 13 post, the 34-year-old told Instagram, “I did it!” alongside two photos from before and after the surgery.

Despite always being a large-chested person, Bloom only considered the operation after having a baby. According to her, pregnancy changes breasts in ways “no one really tells you about” that left her super uncomfortable.

“I got pregnant and grew very quickly from a DD/DDD to a size G. Then, after breastfeeding, their entire texture changed; they got super super soft,” the comedy writer explained. “So at the end of it all it felt like I had a pair of big soft balls weighing down my chest. (Like post-shower balls. Really relaxed. You know).”

She went on to explain that her post-pregnancy chest left her with rashes, shoulder grooving (“when your bra strap digs into your skin”), neck issues, and night sweats. “I couldn’t fall asleep unless I had a pillow in BETWEEN my breasts,” she wrote.

After consulting a few doctors, she chose one and green-lit the surgery. “My request was to just go back my pre-pregnancy size (if not maybe a little bit smaller),” she explained. As of right now, she “already feel[s] more comfortable and relieved,” but can’t yet feel the full effects due to normal post-surgery swelling. (According to the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery, most patients feel comfortable enough to resume normal life at a desk job after a week of recovery, but healing differs among cases.)

“I’m still healing so we’ll see what happens,” Bloom concluded the post. “Lesson/conclusion/stunning revelation from this experience TBD?!” Followers congratulated her on the surgery, sending love and best wishes.

The new mom had her daughter in March 2020, and since then, has shared just as candidly about motherhood as she did her about her breasts—including a video of her giving birth to the Space Jam theme song (LOL 😂) and a photo of her breastfeeding while reading emails.

Surgery and all, Bloom wouldn’t change a thing. On May 9, she posted a snapshot of her reading to her now 1-year-old with the caption, “I love this little girl so much.”
