Netflix’s catalogue of romance movies continues to grow, and its latest addition is Purple Hearts, starring some familiar faces - and here’s where you’ve seen the actors before. After being involved in controversy beginning with a massive loss of subscribers, Netflix is moving forward as if nothing had happened and is carrying on with its release plan. The streaming giant keeps adding new original content every week, with movies and TV shows for all ages and tastes, and among those is Purple Hearts.

Directed by Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum, Purple Hearts is a romance movie based on the novel of the same name by Tess Wakefield. It’s the story of an aspiring singer-songwriter living in Texas and a marine who is about to be shipped out for duty. Although they are very different, they agree to marry solely for the military benefits, but when tragedy strikes, the line between what’s real and what’s pretend begins to blur, making the whole marriage thing and their relationship more complicated.

Purple Hearts has joined Netflix’s already extensive catalogue of romance movies, and it features some familiar faces that you have seen before, either on TV or the big screen, as well as in other Netflix projects. Here’s who plays who in Netflix’s Purple Hearts and where you’ve seen them before.

Sofia Carson as Cassie Salazar

Purple Hearts Cassie

Sofia Carson plays Cassie Salazar, an aspiring singer-songwriter who works several jobs – such as a server, food delivery driver, and piano teacher – while also pursuing her musical dreams by performing with her band. However, all those gigs aren’t enough to pay the rent and other important things, such as her insulin, but Cassie is persistent and won’t stop until she achieves her goals. Sofia Carson is best known for her roles on Disney Channel originals, mostly the Descendants movie trilogy, where she played Evie, the Evil Queen’s daughter, and she also played Tessa in A Cinderella Story: If The Shoe Fits, Ava Jalali in Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists, and April in Netflix’s Feel the Beat.

Nicholas Galitzine as Luke Morrow

Purple Hearts Luke

Nicholas Galitzine plays Luke Morrow, a young Marine getting ready for deployment who has a troubled past. Luke enlists in the military to prove himself to his father, and when he meets Cassie, he learns to let down his guard. Although he and Cassie have different views, he agrees to marry her for extra pay benefits in order to clear his past debts, and the marriage also benefits Cassie. When Luke is seriously wounded and taken back home, he relies on Cassie to recover and their relationship starts to feel real. Nicholas Galitzine played Timmy in The Craft: Legacy, Prince Robert in Cinderella, Elliott Lefevre in the TV series Chambers, and will play Prince Henry in the LGBT romance movie Red, White, & Royal Blue.
