The Hohenlohe branch, the line of Hohenlohe-Neuenstein, which became Protestant during the Reformation, did not receive the rank of princes of the Holy Roman Empire until 1764.

Louis (Ludwig) of Hohenlohe-Langenburg (1696-1765) was a Count of Hohenlohe-Langenburg. On January 7, 1764 he was elevated to Imperial Prince by Holy Roman Emperor Francis I.

I have to say that when I first saw ``Hohenlohe,'' I thought it was an Hawaiian dynasty. The word looks so Hawaiian.

Princess Feodora of Leiningen (1807-1872) was the half-sister of Queen Victoria of England.
In 1828 Feodora married Ernest I, Prince of Hohenlohe-Langenburg at Kensington Palace.
Queen Adelaide of England arranged the match as Prince Ernest I was her first cousin.
