Antonia, Duchess of Wellington, Duchess of Ciudad Rodrigo, Princess of Waterloo,[1][2][3] OBE (born 28 April 1955), is a great-granddaughter of Wilhelm II, German Emperor and the wife of the current Duke of Wellington.

Antonia Elizabeth Brigid Louise Mansfeld was born in London on 28 April 1955, the daughter of Prince Frederick of Prussia and Lady Brigid Katherine Rachel Guinness, daughter of Rupert Guinness, 2nd Earl of Iveagh. She is the twin sister of Prince Rupert Alexander Frederick. She was educated at Cobham Hall School and King's College London (BA, English).[4] She was awarded the OBE in the 2008 Birthday Honours for services to social housing as President of the Guinness Trust.[5]

Marriage and issue

On 3 February 1977, she married (Arthur) Charles Wellesley and took the courtesy title Marchioness of Douro.[2] They have five children:[3]

  • Arthur Wellesley, Marquess of Douro (b. 31 January 1978), who married Jemma Madeleine Kidd (b. 1974) on 4 June 2005 at St James's Church, Barbados; she is the elder daughter of John Edward Aitken Kidd (a grandson of the 1st Baron Beaverbrook) by his former wife Wendy Madeline Hodge (b. 1941), a daughter of Sir John Hodge, 2nd Bt, MBE. Arthur and Jemma have issue, one daughter and two sons:
    • Lady Mae Madeleine Wellesley (b. 4 January 2010)
    • Arthur Darcy Wellesley, Earl of Mornington (b. 4 January 2010)
    • Lord Alfred Wellesley (b. 10 December 2014)
  • Lady Honor Victoria Wellesley (b. 25 October 1979), who married Hon. Orlando William Montagu (b. 1971) at Stratfield Saye on 3 July 2004. He is the younger son of the 11th Earl and the Countess of Sandwich. Honor and Orlando have issue, one son and one daughter:
    • Walter Frederick Montagu (b. 2005)
    • Nancy Jemima Montagu (b. 2007)
  • Lady Mary Luise Wellesley (b. 16 December 1986)
  • Lady Charlotte Anne Wellesley (b. 8 October 1990)

Princess Antonia is in the line of succession to the British throne through her descent from Queen Victoria's daughter, Victoria, Princess Royal.
