Dr. Jessica Bowen

Veterinarian, DVM

Dr. Jessica Bowen grew up on a small farm in Harford County, Maryland, surrounded by a lot of animals. She spent her childhood and teenage years horseback riding and working for a local landscape company. She officially entered the veterinary field at 16 years old, where she worked for a small animal veterinarian as the veterinary technician supervisor for many years. She attended the University of Maryland as an undergraduate and knew her passion was in the small animal field. She attended Western University College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated summa cum laude in May of 2009. Dr. Bowen then traveled back across the country to Calvert County where she joined Prince Frederick Animal Hospital in June of 2009. As the owner of PFAH since 2018, Dr. Bowen’s professional interests are surgery, especially c-sections and neonatal patients, cardiology, ophthalmic care, patient advocacy, and providing a positive workplace. Dr. Bowen lives in Calvert County with her husband, two children, and multiple animals. In her spare time, she enjoys camping and boating with her family, donating to charities, and supporting local businesses.

Dr. Nancy Ramsey

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Nancy Ramsey grew up in Buffalo, NY and Ft Lauderdale, FL. She attended University of Florida and University of Rochester, achieving a BS in Biology. She was a Registered Respiratory Therapist in a human hospital, and an Emergency Medical Technician on an ambulance.  She obtained her DVM from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1994. She started her veterinary career in Waldorf before joining Prince Frederick Animal Hospital in 1998. In 2003 she purchased the animal hospital and relocated it to its current location. After owning the animal hospital for 15 years, she sold it to focus solely on her love of practicing veterinary medicine. Dr Ramsey has been married to Buck Ramsey since 1998, and has a son Thomas, 2 stepsons Mark and Robert, and a foster son Patrick. She adopts dogs (mostly dachshunds), cats, birds, fish, and guinea pigs. She loves traveling, reading, and playing the clarinet and piano.

Dr. Jamie Kimball

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Jamie Kimball grew up in Bergen County, NJ.  She spent her high school years working as a veterinary assistant at a local animal hospital, then continued to work towards her dream of becoming a veterinarian. She received her bachelor’s degree in Biology at Ramapo College of New Jersey in Mahwah, NJ.  She then attended the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in Knoxville, TN.  She moved to Maryland with her dog and 2 cats after accepting a position as associate veterinarian at Prince Frederick Animal Hospital in 2011. She currently resides in St. Mary’s County with her husband, 3 human children (daughter and twin sons), and 3 fur children - a beagle mix named Milo and 2 cats, named Riddick and Jack.  She loves her profession and being part of the PFAH work family. Dr. Kimball enjoys a little bit of everything, but particularly enjoys educating new puppy/kitten owners and exploring pain management as those animals age to ensure a better quality of life.  In her free time, she enjoys reading, hiking and craft beer, but generally spends her time running around the backyard with her kids and Milo.

Dr. Laura Fletcher

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Laura Fletcher grew up locally in Calvert County, where her love for animals started at a very early age. She began volunteering at Prince Frederick Animal Hospital at the age of 8 and was hired as a kennel assistant at the age of 14. Throughout high school and college, she spent most of her after school hours working as a veterinary technician and receptionist. She graduated from Salisbury University in 2009. She then made the cross country move to Southern California to obtain her doctorate at Western University College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated with honors in 2016. It was an easy decision for her to move back to her hometown and re-join the animal hospital that helped her achieve her dream career. She loves Calvert County and spends her free time outdoors- hiking, fossil hunting along the beaches and cliffs, and supporting small businesses. She has a Collie/Norwegian Elkhound mix named Wylder that is always by her side. She is known as the “Shepherd Doctor” because she has a special place in her heart for German Shepherds (In memory of Myles). She advocates and volunteers for local rescue groups and is a board member of Friends of Linda L. Kelley Animal Shelter. Her professional interests include wellness & preventative care, internal medicine, geriatric care, and exotics.

Dr. Tabitha Buyert

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Tabitha Buyert grew up in Joliet, IL. She worked as a kennel technician and veterinarian technician in various clinics starting at 16 years old. She obtained her bachelor's degree in zoology at Iowa State University in 2008. She continued working in the veterinary field and became a certified veterinary technician in 2010, but this wasn’t the end of her education in veterinary medicine. Dr. Buyert obtained her doctorate in veterinary medicine from the University of Minnesota in 2018. She then moved to Southern Maryland where she began practicing. Dr. Buyert became an associate veterinarian at PFAH in 2021. Her professional interests include ultrasound, exotic medicine, surgery including anesthesia, gastropexy and cosmetics repairs. Dr. Buyert and her husband have two young children, two dogs, and a cat in their busy household. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, putting together puzzles, and relaxing with family and friends.

Dr. Lisa Wright

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Lisa Wright was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware, surrounded by pets of every kind! She started her veterinary career as a veterinary assistant at Kirkwood Animal Hospital. Then began her education at the University of Delaware as an undergraduate. She went on to study at Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated with her doctorate in 1992. While attending Cornell, she worked as a research assistant for her exotic professor in avian medicine. After 26 years in the DC/ Metro Area, she and her husband moved to Calvert County where they have been enjoying the “brackish life”. Dr. Wright joined PFAH in 2021. Her professional interests include feline medicine, behavioral and geriatric care. Dr. Wright and her husband share their home with their cat, Abby, dog, Wilson, and a flock of backyard chickens. In her free time, she enjoys kayaking, boating/fishing, gardening, hiking, and hanging out with her grandchildren.

Dr. Susan Longo

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Susan Longo is a native of Memphis, Tennessee.  She graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in June 1987.  She then moved to Maryland to begin her career and never left.  She married her husband, Joe, the next year. After working in Montgomery County and Bowie for six years, she purchased a cat hospital in Annapolis.  The next year she expanded the hospital by adding a section to serve dogs.  She remained at that practice until May 2022.  In November 2022 she joined Prince Frederick Animal Hospital as a part time practitioner. Her professional interests are feline medicine and ear disease. She lives in Edgewater, Maryland, with her husband. Both her son and daughter are currently college students. She has 2 adopted Brittany dogs, one is blind. She also has 2 cats, one of whom is diabetic. In her spare time, she enjoys sewing and gardening.

Jenna Schuster

Office Manager

Jenna Schuster has called Calvert County home for her entire life. She grew up on a horse farm along with a variety of animals. Jenna participated in the local 4H, pony club, and dressage associations throughout her childhood into adulthood. With her passion for helping and caring for animals, she began working at Prince Frederick Animal Hospital in 2007 as a veterinary technician. Over the years here, she has progressed from a part time technician to technician supervisor, and now as of May 2022 is our office manager. During her time here, PFAH has become her second family where she treats all patients like they are her own. Her professional passions are c-sections, patient care, client communication, and team building with our wonderful staff. Jenna lives here in Calvert County with her son, Lucas and English Springer Spaniel, Pongo. In her free time, she enjoys everything outdoors including hiking, boating, horseback riding, spending time with her family, and going on traveling adventures.

Suzee Mandley

Inventory Manager

Suzee Mandley grew up here in Southern Maryland bringing home any furry critter she could get her hands on. Early in her career, she worked in pharmacy and management where she was able to develop many skills that are used here at Prince Frederick Animal Hospital. Suzee joined our team in May 2017 as a technician and was promoted to inventory supervisor in 2019. She is a hard worker and always willing to jump in and lend a helping hand. Professionally, Suzee keeps the hospital equipment serviced, orders all medications and products to keep in stock, and handles our online orders to maintain convenience for our pet owners. In her spare time, she loves spending time out with her family, or home with her son, 3 dogs, 2 cats, bearded dragon, rabbit, chickens, and ducks. Suzee has always loved all animals and would have many more if she could.

Brittany Johnson

Technician Supervisor

Brittany Johnson was raised in a military family therefore, traveling around the world was a big part of her life. When she was transplanted to Calvert County, she knew immediately as a child this would be home. Over the years traveling would continue to be normal with the military lifestyle, but that hasn’t stopped Brittany from working with animals. Brittany grew up with many animals from prairie dogs to cats/dogs, birds, etc. Brittany has been in the veterinary field since 2008. Once having her two children, she decided it was best to move back “home” to Calvert County. She started her journey with Prince Frederick Animal Hospital in January 2018. Since starting with PFAH she has shown her many talents of different positions in the hospital, including receptionist, kennel attendant, technician, and now the technician supervisor. Currently she is attending San Juan College to obtain her Registered Veterinary Technician License. When off the clock, she enjoys being out on the water, spending time with her children and animals which include her dog, Roxie, bearded dragon, and 3 cats.

T'Keyah Wills

Receptionist Supervisor

T'Keyah Wills was born and raised in Calvert County along with her two sisters. Being well-known in this area was something she grew up accustomed to. Therefore, it’s no surprise that her smiling face has been a staple here at Prince Frederick Animal Hospital since 2009. Starting as a kennel technician, then progressing to be cross trained both as a receptionist and veterinary technician. There’s nothing that T’Keyah can’t do here! Her strong work ethic landed her the receptionist supervisor in 2022 where she has led her team effortlessly. She excels in client education, making sure each client understands the details of their four-legged family members while in our care. In her free time, she enjoys reading and spending time with her family, friends, and dogs, Nesta and Pepsi.

Kimberly Butera

Kennel Supervisor

Kimberly Butera has lived in Calvert County most of her life. She started her career at a local boarding facility in 2007. There, she found her passion for working with animals and wanted to gain more experience and knowledge in pet care. Since then, she has worked at 3 boarding facilities and a grooming shop. In October 2016 she joined the team at Prince Frederick Animal Hospital as a veterinary technician, and in May 2022 became the kennel supervisor. Her favorite aspects of working here are what goes on behind the scenes. She enjoys surgery and the technical skills that keep the hospital flowing. She truly loves learning in the ever-changing environment of veterinary medicine. Outside of work she enjoys traveling to the beach and mountains, spending time out on the water, and the occasional round of golf with her husband. At home, she has her Pomeranian, Lil Fro, Boston Terrier, Martini, and snake, Sedusa.
