‘Meet the Candidates': Nichole Larew runs for Preston County Commission

“I am a mother and wife, but also a seasoned business owner who has successfully managed my own business for 25 years. My commitment to community service and the needs of the people is what drove me to open Newburg Grows food pantry. As a firefighter for Newburg Volunteer Fire Department and secretary of the Preston County Fireman’s Association, I am dedicated to serving our community. Living in the same house I grew up in, just outside of Newburg, I’m deeply rooted in my hometown. I’m also an active member of the Rotary Club and Economic Development Board; working hard to foster growth and LOCAL prosperity.”

If elected, what is a primary issue in Preston County that you would like to see better addressed? (i.e. infrastructure, jobs, addiction crisis, ect.)

“My primary concern is to establish an administration that is dedicated to serving the people’s needs. Improving infrastructure is crucial for ensuring access to basic necessities and enhancing public transportation. Affordable childcare and eldercare are essential for supporting families and our aging population. Access to healthy foods and nutritional education that will promote community wellbeing. Investing in drug rehab and treatment facilities addressing the crisis plaguing our communities. Economic growth should prioritize small businesses, bolstering our LOCAL economy and upholding constitutional values, ultimately strengthening our community.”

How would you use this office to promote economic growth in Preston County?

“As county commissioner, I’d utilize my multifaceted role to drive Economic prosperity in Preston County while being a true voice for the people. Rooted in grassroots community values, I’d prioritize the needs of the residents and small businesses; leveraging my 25 years of successful business ownership. By advocating for policies that put the community first and supporting small businesses as the backbone of our economy, I’d ensure their voices are heard. Through collaborative efforts and strategic planning, I’m committed to cultivating a vibrant economic landscape where grassroots values and small businesses lead the way to a brighter future for Preston County.”
