About this event

Join us for a unique photography experience designed to have you creating stunning portraiture in a beautiful unfurnished gothic mansion. We will have lovely themed models who will be modelling a variety of period and themed outfits and doing classic poses to create Period and Pre-raphaelite inspired imagery. This promises to be a great day of photography for anyone who likes this dreamy and ethereal theme. We will explore themes of love, beauty, the Pre-Raphaelites and folklore to create beautiful and poetic imagery that blends person and the rustic mansion interiors and exteriors. We aim to push the boundaries of your creativity, guiding you how to pose our models and use natural light and the rustic backdrops to create the perfect picture. We will have exclusive use of this huge mansion as it will be closed to the public on this day.

The Pre-Raphaelites were a group of English painters, poets, and art critics, founded in 1848 by artists that included William Holman Hunt, John Everett Millais and Dante Gabriel Rossetti. They sought to return to an abundance of detail, paintings that were full of colour and celebrated the human form, many inspired by mythology and romance. The result is a beautiful collection of art, many that are dreamy and mysterious and that have beautiful depictions of female and male beauty.

Woodchester Mansion was built by William Leigh, a wealthy Catholic convert who was born in Duke Street, Liverpool, in 1802. Now managed by the Mansion trust it is a highly significant building designed by Benjamin Bucknall, and arguably one of his finest works. Nestled in the Cotswolds the impressive unfurnished building is full of beautiful natural light and stonework, exposed beams and charm and will provide wonderful photography opportunities. Our event will support the ongoing restoration and maintenance of this wonderful building.
