What travelers are saying
- LynnKCBCambridge, MA5 contributionsI did this walk on a warm fall day in November and then after Christmas on a cloudy overcast day and both experiences were great. I think this is such a unique and wonderful attraction and I know I'll be making more trips back to walk it again in the future. The walk is great and the community feeling is great, too.
In December, my family and I did the loop that consists of the Walkway and then the Mid-Hudson Bridge. We were glad we did it!Written January 2, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. He purchased this lovely estate outside Poughkeepsie. It has been turned into a lovely museum, with gardens, trails and tours of the Morse house. Be sure to sign up for the excellent house tour.Written October 24, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - mmmcgood7 contributionsI really liked this museum - it was fun to visit the college and see the art. It's good to visit when you are in the area for something else.Written March 16, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MidwestKathMDetroit, MI938 contributionsWe enjoy walking college campuses for the architecture and public art. We arrived on the Vassar College campus on a beautiful September afternoon. Since the campus is usually pretty spread out, it's best to do some research to identify buildings you want to see. On the Vassar campus, there are several traditional buildings worth seeing: 1865 Main Building; 1904 Vassar Chapel; 1913 All Campus Dining Center; 1951 Ferry House; 1958 Noyes House; and 1959 Chicago Hall. Among others with unique architectural characteristics. Fun time!Written September 20, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mary Lulu LPoughkeepsie, NY1 contributionI want to thank you for a great job done. I just returned from an extensive food shopping experience at your store (Tuesday before Thanksgiving). The store was packed with courteous employees all doing a wonderful job of restocking. Their cheerful demeanor spread to the customers. Everyone had smiles for everyone else. Remarkable! Management has a great deal to do with making shopping at Adams a pleasure. Happy Thanksgiving! - iamyellowjeepRock Tavern, NY54 contributionsOur second time seeing Post Modern Jukebox at the Bardavon and we have never been disappointed. The theater is a historical reminder of past performances and continues to entertain today. We hope that the community will continue to support the arts.Written April 14, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Beachdancer104Wareham, MA156 contributionsWe took the turn into the campus at the suggestion of a family we met at an attraction further up the Hudson. Campus is lovely, buildings are interesting, location in the riverside is worth the 15 minute drive through. Surprised and disappointed to see throngs of students at a local food truck, all closely packed and unmasked.Written September 6, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Justin WHasbrouck Heights, NJ3,753 contributionsI have been coming up to the Hudson River Valley for many years and I have never before really explored Poughkeepsie. I had been downtown years ago when it was gentrifying but that was in 1997.
The whole waterfront area and lower Main Street and the waterfront is going through a change right now with newer people snatching up homes in the historic Union Street area, lower Downtown and the Waterfront adding in new bars, restaurants and stores. Little Italy does not exist pretty much any more except for two restaurants, a hair salon and a bakery and one pizzeria. The rest is being renovated for artists who are moving into the area and renovating the houses in this section.
The Walkway Across the Hudson is changing all of this as is new housing by the river. Poughkeepsie is a City to watch.Written September 21, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mary JPoughkeepsie, NY450 contributionsThis is a lovely historic building worth a visit. If you are coming for polite and fast service go to another post office. But do stop by at least once to see the structure.Written October 13, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
