The little town of Plymouth Notch is the Birthplace of President Calvin Coolidge. After visiting the Visitor's Center to see the exhibits and watch the movie you go up to the town. There are the site's associated with Coolidge. His father's store where he was born in the back. Above the store they have an exhibit where it showed how it was turned into a command center when Coolidge returned one summer. There is also a larger house across the street where the family moved. It was here that Coolidge was sworn in as President by his father after they found out President Harding had died. There is a Cheese Coop where his father is one of the founders that still makes cheese today. There is the chapel and several barns filled with farming equipment, carriages and sleighs you can visit.
Well worth the trip and a visit.

The whole are is the very idea of Colonial New England, especially in the fall. Well worth a side trip if you are in the area. Entertaining, historical and educational. Especially make sure you visit the cheese making facility!

This is the birthplace and boyhood home of our 30th U.S, President, Calvin Coolidge. The district has been left unchanged since early in the 20th century.
Stroll the streets and visit the general store, church, and other buildings which contain much of the original furnishings. Be sure to check out the museum and gift shop.
May-October - 9:30AM to 5:PM. Group rates accepted.
Enjoy a step back into history!

As we were traveling some of the back roads in Vermont, we saw a sign about the Calvin Coolidge Historic Site. It was not far off the road we were on and decided to go check it out. What a nice place and what a beautiful setting! The museum about President and Mrs. Coolidge was small but impressive. We have been to a number of the Presidential Libraries in larger towns, but we thought this stop was just as good! The grounds have the house where Coolidge was born, the house across the street where he moved at age 4, the neighborhood barn, and several other buildings to see. There were guides at the two homes to tell us about the homes and they were very informative. One of the neatest things we saw here was the very spot where Coolidge was sworn in as President by his own father in the home where he grew up. They have the table set up in the room just as it was when Coolidge was sworn in. We probably spent about an hour and a half here and could have even stayed longer if we had the time. Very definitely a recommended stop!

Calvin Coolidge, US President, was born here and they have turned the Plymouth Notch area of his childhood into a simple but accurate illustration of his home, farm, and tiny village life style.

There seem to be many sites on TripAdvisor about this place. I highly recommend coming here. The drive is long but beautiful and worth it. It is most definitely worth seeing President Coolidge's Homestead. You can see where he was born, where he took the oath of office, lots of his and his family's artifacts, etc. Be prepared to walk a lot and be here for hours. The President's grave is seconds away.

What a great little town. If you are a fan of historic and well preserved Americana- then you will enjoy Plymouth Notch. Walking around this town allows you to think back as to how live use to be.
Not to mention going into the general store- buy some candy, that is put into the little white bags, sit on the front porch and eat the candy.

This may be the best historical place I have been to in a long time. The buildings are restored to their condition when President Coolidge lived there and many furniture pieces are Coolidge family pieces. The staff and volunteers are friendly and helpful and make the visit very special. Mty8 year old grandson could not get his fill of the buildings. To buy great cheese in the cheese factory founded by President Coolidge's father was an added treat. To find a President buried in his family plot with no fanfare tells a lot about the kind of man he was.

What a great visit to the village of Plymouth Notch, where little has changed in over 100 years. The village is well preserved with from the time that Calvin Coolidge was President, all but one of the buildings being original. Make sure you take the guided tour to see areas that are otherwise not open to the public. One funny note there is no cell service in the notch!

I read some of the reviews and a guided tour was mentioned. Is the tour offered daily and are reservations required? Cost?
