Club, Cafe, Drink-Bar, Pub & Cabaret Created in 1956 Piwnica pod Baranami served as the most renowned political cabaret in the communist era in Poland. At first it was a club for creative youth. The stage was formed by young artists of many different genres: writers, musicians, visual artists and actors, as well as their friends and faithful audiences. After nearly fifty years Piwnica became a legend. Its influence has reached beyond the art; it has been described thus: "It was much more than a cabaret. It was a breath of freedom and of ironic distance to the reality which surrounded us." Join us drinking our great Polish or Czech beer, wonderful drinks & cocktails, the best coffee, incredibly good hot chocolate, lovely cakes, mulled wine or beer and many other! In one of our rooms you can also join: Travelers' Club - on Mondays (at 7:00 p.m.) Tango Milonga Evenings - on Wednesdays (at 8 p.m.) Jazz Live Concerts - on Thursdays (at 9:00 p.m.) Polish Literary Cabaret - every Saturday (at 9:00 p.m.) 1-31 of July - SUMMER JAZZ FESTIVAL at Piwnica pod Baranami (every year from 1996)!!! In the meantime - concerts, performances, parties, retro swingin' evenings!

Great place. Great service. Lively lovely place. Full of character.. good value.. quite hsrd to find but enter thro starbucks arch and its behind.. huge selection of beers and cocktails.

Great looking and hep jazz club with real music, friendly employees, and the feel like you’re back in the day when jazz was underground. Drinks and talented entertainment were both tasteful and cheap.

If you are into jazz and old basement type of atmospheric bars, this place is for you. It has an amazing history and a real soul. Drinks are very good too!

You can’t miss this place when you are in Krakow. The legendary bar exists more than 60 years! The atmosphere is just magical. Just feel it. They have good beer too:) You might see a local artist on Saturday evening...just enjoy it..

This place is sooo good. Good atmosphere, Tarantino's soundtrack but my personal favourite was the guy in the bar. Very friendly, very funny simply amazing. A big suggestion for beers in Krakow

This bar - pub is by far the most beautiful bar I have ever been to. The interiour is so special from the tables to the chairs to the ceeling to the walls. I love it . We will for sure come back when next time in Krakow (march 2019 ;) )

My teenage boys and I went to "Cellar under the Rams" for a jazz concert one night in July. The club is located in medieval cellars just off the Krakow market square ("rynek"). The place is iconic; it was established in 1956 and has been in existence ever since. It functioned as a cabaret, a gathering place for artists, musicians, where strange things got created that somehow escaped the communist governments' censorship. The performance space, where we saw the concert, seats, maybe, 40 people? We found a spot right behind the pianist. You need to go there to soak in somewhat decadent, nonconformist vibe of the past era.

Me and my friends, we participated to a great concert in Piwnica. Great energy and we were having a lot of fun. However at the end of the concert we have been treated in a really rude way by the staff. People, and we also, wanted to speak with musicians and we have been thrown in a really rude way: " Go out!"
So even the bar and concerts are good, it has been twice the concert staff / acustic was rude with the guests

Sorry for the people from acoustic staff. Sometimes we can't control everything what are doing men from technical support :(

Discovered this cellar bar 4 years ago whilst taking an evening tour of Krakow and so glad i did, have returned every year since. Visited on a Sunday evening and there was a swing night on, added to the atmosphere. There is a great choice of drinks too, looking forward to our next visit.
