(1940 – 1979)
The second son of Jacques-Yves and Simone Cousteau, Philippe was one of the world’s first scuba divers, a photographer, filmmaker, author, and pilot.
He traveled the world as a child with his older brother, Jean-Michel, and as an adult, he worked closely with his father on early Cousteau expeditions and projects.
Philippe was tragically killed in a seaplane accident at age 38 and is survived by his daughter Alexandra, son Philippe, and wife Jan, who carry on the work of protecting the ocean planet.
