Feature: Peter Law Artist of Portland, Oregon

Peter_LawA native of Queensland, Australia, the son of a minister, Dr. Peter Law moved his family to America in 1982 in order to study at Western Seminary. The Law family headed home to Australia in 1985, only to be called back to America two years later. They landed on American soil on Valentine’s Day, 1987.

Peter’s background includes pastoring in Australia, interim pastoral work at Hinson Memorial Baptist Church (Portland, Oregon), working at Union Gospel Mission in downtown Portland, authorship (“Save the Local Church” and “Abba My Father”), world missions, and church planting. Most recently Peter worked with Mueller Bible College in Brisbane Australia, as their Principal, and with Mueller Community Church as their Senior Pastor.

In addition to his background in ministry and leadership, Peter once taught art classes to high school students, and over the years his work has been featured in magazines, Street of Dreams homes (through his prior business: Windsor Studios), and in art galleries. Dr. Law’s art was first presented by Christian Supply (Portland, Oregon).

The Peter Law Artist site states:

“Born and raised in Australia, widely-traveled throughout Europe, Eastern Europe and Asia, and now living in the U.S., with his family, Peter Law seems at home wherever he travels in the world. As a boy he expressed himself through drawing and painting, and throughout his youth continued to nurture his artistic interests. Peter especially enjoys the works of French and Australian Impressionist painters as well as the great European masters.”

CATHEDRAL-HILLIn 2014, Peter and his wife moved back to the Portland Oregon area to be near their four daughters and 15 grandchildren. Peter is again picking up a paintbrush and returning to the world of art. Familiarize yourself with the current art pieces by visiting the Shop page on the Peter Law Artist website. At this time, seven pieces are featured:

Birraria, Cafe Gelato, Cathedral Hill, Coat of Arms, Ponte De La Christi, Rue De La Piccola, and The Chapel Door.

Each piece comes with a story attached, explaining the significance of the imagery in connection to Christ. In addition, a portion of all profits from the sale of Peter’s paintings goes towards this mission to help provide leadership training and practical assistance in third world countries.

In 2014, Peter launched ENGAGE International, whose vision is to see churches established and strengthened in the second and third world. He is challenged by the opportunity to help raise-up a new generation of Christian leaders, who will minister both at home and across the global fields for the glory of God and the extension of His kingdom.
