Pietermaritzburg - A man succumbed to his injuries this morning following a crash between a bus carrying passengers and a delivery truck on the N3 in Pietermaritzburg.
The incident happened near the Peter Brown off-ramp, now considered by residents as a high accident zone due to road works.
Shawn Herbst, Netcare 911 national spokesperson, said they responded to the collision around 6:30am near Liberty Midlands Mall.
“Reports indicate that a bus and bakkie were involved in a collision, resulting in the bakkie coming to rest upside down,” he said. “Medics assessed the scene and found that the driver of the bakkie, an adult male, had sustained fatal injuries and was sadly declared deceased on the scene.”
Herbst said that the Fire and Rescue Services used hydraulic tools to free the deceased from the wreckage.
