Danny Elfman ‎– Pee-Wee's Big Adventure / Back To School (Original Motion Picture Scores)

I gotta say I was super excited to randomly come across this record at FYE. I didn’t know that the Pee Wee’s Big Adventure score existed on vinyl in the first place, let alone would I find a new reissue of it sitting among pop and rap records on the sale rack at FYE. Couldn’t pass it up, of course. It’s one of my most favorite and cherished movies of all time. Unfortunately, I was ultimately disappointed in the quality of the pressing. With the exception of the noticeably lower fidelity of the first track, all of the tracks on both sides are actually pretty good quality and sound very pleasant and full with no distortion even near the skinny deadwax. The big problem, though, is the entire record has a significantly audible thumping nearly the entire way through each side. Once every second there is a triplet of little thumps. This issue really detracts from an otherwise very enjoyable experience. I could hear the thumping coming through all but the loudest parts of the music. This is a very unfortunate issue, especially after being so pleasantly surprised by the incredible marbled coloring of the LP. This is definitely one of the most beautiful colored LPs that I own, but it missed the mark on pressing quality. I’m not sure if my copy just has a defect or every one of these reissues suffer from the perpetual thumping. Feel free to voice your experiences with this reissue as I am very curious.

I bought this from another retailer and my copy is also red. I haven't seen another red variant for 2019, though. Maybe B&N's variant isn't as exclusive as their sticker would have you believe.
