Paula Renee Smith

Paula was born in Indianapolis on May 31, 1958, to Don and Mary Ann Maudlin. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Indiana University in 1980 and worked briefly for the FBI before settling into a long and rewarding career as a Manager in the Department of Corrections. On July 11, 1992, Paula married Jeff Smith. They raised a son, Jason, and a daughter, Megan.

Paula had a passion for her children and a love of the beach, where she could be from sunup to sundown. She was active in many walking and fundraising events over the years, the proceeds going to cancer research and most recently Alzheimer's disease, which claimed the life of her mother. Paula was known for her quick wit, but mostly for her kindness, compassion and understanding.

Paula was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Ann. She is survived by her husband, Jeff; her two children, Jason and Megan; her father, Don; her sister, Cindy; two brothers, David and Michael; as well as, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 21, 2020, at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, 5980 North University Drive, Parkland, at 6 pm. Any monetary donations can be made to cancer research in Paula's name.
