Marvel Studios' Vision Quest taps two writers from Disney+'s WandaVision.

In an exclusive report from The Direct, a Writers Guild of America listing reveals that WandaVision writers Megan McDonnell and Peter Cameron will be in the writer's room for Paul Bettany's upcoming Disney+ series. McDonnell penned the WandaVision episode "Now in Color," and co-wrote "We Interrupt This Program" with Bobak Esfarjani, while Cameron penned "On a Very Special Episode..." with Mackenzie Dohr and "All-New Halloween Spooktacular!" with Chuck Hayward.

Additionally, McDonnell and Cameron have extensive credits within the Marvel Cinematic Universe as McDonnell is a credited co-writer for The Marvels and Agatha: Coven of Chaos while Cameron co-wrote Werewolf by Night and worked the writer's room for Moon Knight. WandaVision creator, writer and executive producer Jac Schaeffer will serve as the showrunner for Vision Quest, as well as another WandaVision spinoff, Agatha: Coven of Chaos.

Paul Bettany Returns for Vision Quest

In October 2022, Vision Quest was confirmed to be in development with Bettany reprising the title role. While the full premise of the series is under wraps, Vision Quest will take place after the season finale of WandaVision with "Vision trying to regain his memory and humanity." While Bettany will reprise his MCU role as Vision for the series, it is unclear if Elizabeth Olsen will return as Wanda Maximoff after the Scarlet Witch's dark fate in 2022's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, it was noted that there is a "possibility" for her return, though it has not been confirmed by Marvel or Disney.

Vision made his MCU debut in 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron when the titular supervillain's synthetic vibranium body was taken by Earth's Mightiest Heroes and fused with the Mind Stone (as well as lightning from Mjolnir) to bring him to life. After fighting alongside the Avengers to stop Ultron from destroying Sokovia, he joined the team and formed a romance with Wanda during the events of 2016's Captain America: Civil War. He appeared again in 2018's Avengers: Infinity War, where he was killed by Thanos to gain control of the Mind Stone.

What Happened to Vision in WandaVision?

In Disney+'s WandaVision, Vision was brought back to life through Wanda's "Hex" in Westview, New Jersey. When Wanda and Vision's family becomes a threat to the outside world, S.W.O.R.D. reactivates the deceased Vision's body, now all white, using Wanda's powers to stop them. In the series finale, "Hex," Vision transfers his memories into the White Vision before flying away.

In April 2022, Bettany teased Vision's fate would not be left open-ended despite the WandaVision finale. "At the end of WandaVision, you see Vision fly off and that's a loose end," Bettany said. "And [Marvel Studios President/Marvel CCO] Kevin Feige is a man who doesn't really allow loose ends. So I assume at some point I will be putting on my tights and cloak for another outing, but I don't know when that might be."

Vision Quest does not have a release date.
