Tár, Todd Field's latest film starring Cate Blanchett, has been lauded by critics as one of the best movies of the year since it came out in October—most notably for Cate's performance, which landed her an Oscar nom for Best Actress this year, just on the heels of her recent Golden Globes win for Best Actress. Overall, the movie has six Oscar nominations, including Best Picture.

The movie is all about Cate's character Lydia Tár, a fictional world-renowned composer-slash-conductor whose personal and professional downfall happens as she's in the midst of preparing to lead the Berlin Philharmonic. The movie also stars Nina Hoss, Noemie Merlant, Sophie Kauer, Julian Glover, Allan Corduner, and Mark Strong.

Sounds amaze—is there a Tár trailer?

Absolutely! Watch it here and try not to get chills down your spine:

What has Cate said about playing Lydia?

While opening up about the film during a recent W profile, the actor mused: "Todd sent me this script, and I inhaled it. He wrote it at the beginning of the pandemic. Todd was a musician first, so there was a musical quality to the script, and not just because it’s set in the classical music world. It could just as easily have been about an architect or a painter or a writer—anyone in a position of top institutional power, and the way that being in that position gets in the way of their sense of self and ability to relate to people."

She also spoke with Everything Everywhere All at Once's Michelle Yeoh during Variety’s Actors On Actors series and said, "The character of Lydia—even though there’s a very clear understanding in the community in which she moves of who she is and how she thinks and what she’s achieved—she’s someone who has become estranged from herself. Being at the head of a major institution and therefore being in a position of being able to, and expected to, wield a certain level of authority, that has separated her from not only her craft and her creative instinct, but also from who she is."
