      Critics Consensus

A few rousing action sequences can't make up for Pathfinder's non-existent plot and silly dialogue.

Hector M Action movie at its best - who's the better hunter and who's the better warrior. Kick back and get pulled into a realm of a warrior battling unworldly beasts. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/21/24 Full Review TRIOPTIC K I can't fault a film for trying- but if this is the best one can do for the building of such a legend based on likely historical events- epic fail. In every single aspect of scaffolding that builds a good film. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 12/18/22 Full Review Mike V I don't know why the ratings are so bad for this movie. I liked it a lot. Sure the dialogue was a bit so so, but given the time it is set in and the language/ cultural backgrounds of the movie that is to be expected. I liked the actors the plot held up well and there was always enough going on to hold interest. I think it well worth a look at. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/04/22 Full Review Audience Member Look for barbaric actions? You come to the right place, do like the adventure. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member non-existent plot and silly dialogue?? No sympathetic character? I guess the rumours that critics in this site are failed film makers is right. The main character was lost and confused, that makes him easy to feel empathy for. The plot was his journey to defending his family and becoming one of the tribe. Maybe you critics should study story structure before you write. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Nice visual effects, but grossly ahistoric and silly plot. I was a little bored during the whole movie. Joshua Land Time Out Pathfinder's main appeal will be to connoisseurs of gore, who will find no shortage of graphically rendered stabbings, shootings, smashings, severings and slicings. Rated: 2/6 Sep 22, 2007 Full Review Xan Brooks Guardian Imagine a heavy metal album cover come suddenly to life and you pretty much have the measure of Pathfinder. Rated: 1/5 Sep 22, 2007 Full Review James Berardinelli ReelViews The movie is filmed in a way that makes it seem like the camera has epilepsy and the color desaturation renders everything murky. Someone should remind director Marcus Nispel that there's a difference between making a music video and a feature film. Rated: 1.5/4 Sep 22, 2007 Full Review Megan Basham WORLD Without a relatable or sympathetic character in its lineup, Pathfinder is a blunt object designed to beat the audience over the head with gore until even the most sensitive viewer is left yawning at the ugliness. Oct 16, 2018 Full Review David Keyes Cinemaphile.org Had the camera been a firing squad pointed towards its actors, their careers would have taken less damage.
