Connor A This is a good film. The cast is strong and each actor gives a great performance. The plot is good but I felt there could have been something more here Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/13/24 Full Review Caleb J Criminally underrated. Bale & Affleck are sensational. Woody is frightening as hell. A dark, intense crime thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/17/24 Full Review Jim C My wife and I watched it while just browsing movies. We like Woody Harrelson as well as Christian Bale. All the actors gave great performances. The ratings from critics and fans were almost identical; mediocre at best. We disagreed. Very gritty movie. The plot wasn't the best but the movie was fantastically acted. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/01/24 Full Review L G if i had been looking for any sign of a feel good flick in this i would have been majorly disapponted. luckily i like a good heavy drama now and then, and this delivered. all that talent just cannot be ignored, and makes it worth a watch. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/20/23 Full Review Adam K Outstanding film with a lot of layers. Everyone playing their best roles, despite Forrest Whitakers Batman voice and caddywompus glasses. Woody Harrelson steals every scene he is in as he channels white hot redneck evil. Bareknuckle boxing with Willem Dafoe as your promotor has never been so good. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/07/23 Full Review Peter J This is a special movie that tackles some very deep and sad social material. The acting is top notch, with Bale and Harrelson shining. Dafoe gives an excellent performance as well. This is a very chilling look at poverty and the suffering of rural communities. My only complaint is the pacing - it was very slow at times and very drawn out. The ending is great, but it could have happened sooner. Candice Frederick Reel Talk Online ... we receive an aimless, generic crime drama that cuts itself off at the knees early on and scrambles for relevancy thereafter. Rated: C- Sep 6, 2017 Full Review Ed Gibbs Sydney Morning Herald Christian Bale still makes this rather run-of-the-mill proposition appealing, regardless of how oddly unfashionable he may currently be. Rated: 3/5 Feb 23, 2014 Full Review Morgan Wilcock Film Comment Magazine The varied performances yield much kindling for warming the heart, especially the scenes between the two brothers. Feb 14, 2014 Full Review Kaleem Aftab Filmmaker Magazine This tale of brothers who can’t stay out of trouble trots out all the clichés of America in its economic malaise: the lack of blue-collar work, and every genre cliché of Westerns, brothers protecting brothers and the need to take the law into your hands. Dec 5, 2022 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Out of the Furnace considers a bleak outlook on economic disparity and how it shapes the lives of those affected, but the film’s methods are obvious and timeworn. Rated: 2/4 Aug 19, 2022 Full Review Mark Jackson Epoch Times If it did nothing else than rub America's nose in the abominable treatment of soldiers returning from war, "Out of the Furnace" would more than justify itself. While it's a depressing story, it's also chock full of actor's actors and therefore engrossing. Rated: 3.5/5 Mar 29, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews
