Really wonderful surroundings...great place to stroll around and unwind right in the inner city! The Orangerie is a fantastic old historical building with a great restaurant with fantastic light meals and a cold beer! Winter or summer it's like being in a fairy tale wonderland!

Beautiful large Orangerie summer residence, two kilometers long park with many paths, suitable for walking and chatting with children. At the palace you can use the café. Suitable for running and Nordic walking.

The Orangerie of Kassel is a beautiful building. Only from a distance or on a map you see how large the building actually is.
Also has a nice terrace (with a cafe) in front.

We spent more than an hour walking around the palace and surrounds, beautiful garden and ponds, with lots of people enjoying the area. Must see if you're in kassel.

If you descend to the Orangerie from the Documenta-Halle, what you see first is a beautiful building , painted in Yellow, that now houses a museum of science and history. This building is fnaked by statues of the bygone, Monarchical era and in its front, the lawn beckons you to run, play, stroll or just lie down. As you go Further, you see water and another very small building that could function only as much as Gazebos do. Let's call it a pseudo-Gazebo. It reminded me of those Mughal Gardens in the Indian city of Srinagar.
The waterside road to this pseudo-Gazebo in Orangerie is another long walk. If you decide to skip it and stroll into the forest, chances are that as you walk for 10 minutes, you see another side of Kassel. So the Forest is not deep, but just enough to stroll.
All Three of my visits to Kassel and Orangerie have been at the busy season of Documenta (Important Art exhibition that takes place every fifth year), yet I have had my bunch of feelings... serene feelings that evoke both solitude and universality. That's the way nature works upon you, if you listen to nature while looking at it.

I was there is part of an event, and I was really amazed by such an amazing spot in Kassel.
The building is very nice and the outside is a really cool place to chill (when the weather is nice ) with a great view on an extended park.

The Orangerie is an amazing park to enjoy nice walks, the nature and the sculptures around. The park is really big and you can rediscover it every day if you like to, it always has something different to show. It is nice to enjoy in summer, but also at fall or even in the winter when it snows. The scenery is magnificient.
After a tiring walk, you can for sure have a warm 'Café Crème' at Dominik's place at the Orangerie's Restaurant, or give a salad a try if you are hungry. Besides having a tasty kitchen, the staff is really nice and makes you feel comfortable at the first glance.

I remember the first time i was in Kassel. I just wanted to have somthing consistent for the nuch time. I was invited at the Orangerie...and waoooow. Nice view, beautiful park, fresh air ( you can spend a lot of time there with your family and friends), nice personal, lovely atmosphere. I didn't want to go anymore. The location is really big , offers sometimes nice smooth live music for the guest.
I also ate the Burger (Magestical Burger :-)). it was so tasty... Now when i am in Kassel, i just have one location in mind:"ORANGERIE".
People don't make the mistake and forget to go there when you are in kassel.
