‘Deadpool 3’ Adds ‘Succession’ Actor Matthew Macfadyen

Actor Matthew Macfadyen’s biggest and most notable role is easily HBO’sSuccession”—the weasely and cowardly Tom Wambsgans. And while that role and show are coming to an end this spring, Macfadyen doesn’t have to be worried about being out of work. The “Succession” actor has just bagged a role in the upcoming Marvel movie “Deadpool 3” opposite Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman.

Who Macfadyen will play is currently unknown, but he will be joining “The Crown” star Emma Corrin who is also onboard and new to the franchise.

“Deadpool 3,” the working title that could change, and for all we know it could incorporate the Wolverine name, will be directed by Shawn Levy, who has directed “Deadpool” star Ryan Reynolds in several films, including “The Adam Project” and “Free Guy”; he also directed Hugh Jackman in “Real Steel.

Written by Paul Wernick & Rhett Reese, the original franchise movie authors, Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin penned a previous draft.

So far, it’s very unknown what “Deadpool 3” is about; however, with Hugh Jackman on board as Logan/Wolverine, all signs to a film that comes from the old 20th Century Fox universe and then somehow melds into the Marvel Universe seemingly thanks to some multiverse shenanigans (Owen Wilson’s Time Variance Authority “Loki” character is rumored to appear, but that’s not confirmed yet).

Much of the speculation says that “Deadpool 3” will use some of the characters from the old Deadpool franchise, Colossus, Domino, etc., and then port some of them over into the proper MCU.

The film is rumored to be a road trip movie, and Hugh Jackman has teased he plays more than one version of Logan. Apparently, it’ll still be rated R, according to the film’s writers. “Deadpool 3” is currently scheduled for a November 8, 2024 release date. [via Deadline]
