About
Copenhagen's Nyhaven, or "New Harbor," is actually steeped in a long heritage. Colorful buildings line the canal and hint at a history of small-vessel traffic. Like many ports, this strip has a salty history, rich with sailors, drinking and literary exploits. Danish author Hans Christian Andersen made his home in Nyhavn as well. It's cleaned up now and is a lovely place for a stroll.

The area
Neighbourhood: Indre By (Inner City)
This is the heart of old town Copenhagen, with its blend of charming old buildings and bold new architecture, broad avenues and tiny streets as well as picturesque canals and a modern harbor. The inner city is home to the Royal Danish Theatre, which consists of three buildings, two of which are new and situated on the harbor front. The streets, squares and venues of the inner city and its surrounding neighborhoods, are alive all year round with everything from jazz festivals to outdoor ice skating rinks and parachuting at the lakes right in the center of the city. This compact area boasts beautiful old castles, tranquil parks, and bustling squares where you can always find a bench to stretch out your legs whenever you need a break.

It's a tourist hotspot, but also one of my favorite places to walk around in Copenhagen. The restaurants are quite pricey, so grab a snack and bring it to the water front. The houses here are iconic and this is the photo you see on every guide book for Copenhagen. The write Hans Christian Andersen lived in House #20!

Despite the hype it doesn’t disappoint
We knew what to expect from the many photos we had seen but got to say it still impressed ! Difficult to get in the cafes as they were always full but we did like the locals and sat with the drinks we had brought with us at the side of the canal . Great atmosphere,. Veer right at that end over the bridge with the cycle lanes and walk into area which is perfect for street food and drinks , music playing and more beautiful views

Nyhavn a madhouse on Sunday Afternoons
We visited Nyhavn this afternoon on a SUnday when the sun was out for awhile. It was a madhouse of people. A lot of them wanted to go on the boat tours. Each boat was filled with people. The activities are eating, milking a beer, and walking the streets taking pictures along with boat tours. It's nice but be prepared to get slammed with a Lot of other people who want to go also.

    Well worth a visit
This bustling part of the city is a must see with its colourful buildings, many lovely looking cafes and restaurants with stalls selling lots of different things. The canal that runs alongside this is the hub for canal tourist boat trips to go and see the other great sights Copenhagen has to offer. Lovely place

    Eat Drink Repeat
A street full of courtyard restaurants of similar size with similar menus and prices. Pick any one and you should be ok. Smoking ban is wonderful when compared to other European cities. Views of the canal and surrounding buildings are wonderful. An area of Copenhagen not to be missed.

    Quintessential Copenhagen
Nyhavn is the quintessential, postcard-perfect Copenhagen neighbourhood for good reason. Such colourful buildings and beautiful setting just by the water! So many beautiful cafes and restaurants! A must-visit in Copenhagen, if only for a short time

    Vibrant, touristy
This is the definition of a tourist place. There are some nice spots with lovely views that you will have to seek out to enjoy the scene. Hub for all sorts of boat rides, including the water bus that is part of the public transport system.

Lovely Historical Area Well Worth Visit but Packed with Tourists in July
Beautiful very busy area of Copenhagen well worth a visit. Be selective of where you eat as we went to two restaurants here and one was an awful tourist trap and the second was amazing. Reminded me of Amsterdam! Be sure to pack a raincoat as we have not experienced one day in Copenhagen that didn’t have a period of a downpour!

    Picturesque
This area is lovely and picturesque. The colorful buildings along canals are a must see for us when we visit this city. Pronounced Nee-Houn (New Harbor) is loaded with great restaurants and pubs. It’s great for a leisurely stroll during the day or evening. A nearby local attraction is the Royal Danish Theatre.

Beautiful spot in the old harbour. Lovely buildings and plenty of restaurants and cafes. Canal boats are also here and give excellent tours. Easily accessible from town centre or by metro.

A beautiful part of Copenhagen and definitely a must visit. The buildings are lovingly restored and are resplendent in their gayly painted colours. There are canal rides that you can go on, and many of the buildings house a variety of restaurants, as well as the famous store selling waffles with ice cream and churrios.

A lovely hotel in the heart of Copenhagen. Great location, good breakfast and very attentive staff made out experience extremely pleasant. The actual building goes back to 18C and was tastefully and sympathetically refurbished. Should we go back to the Danish capital we will definitely stay there again.

Super pretty view and a must see when in Copenhagen. Would recommend going in the morning, as it gets really crowded over the course of the day. There are a lot of nice restaurants where you can eat while having a great view of Nyhavn.
