Using Living with Christ

Another Year of Grace – and Psalms!

Novalis and Living with Christ have been gratified by the interest so many music ministers have in our Psalms for the Liturgical Year. We know that the responsorial psalm is an integral part of somany music programs, and the consistent quality of Gordon Johnston’s work makes singing the Psalms a real delight.

And so it is time to get at posting the psalms for the next year of the liturgical cycle. This means taking apart the arrangement as you find it in the printed book, pasting together the two pages into a single file, and adding the assembly edition, so that with your LicenSingOnline license you will be able to easily prepare worship aids or add this to your parish bulletin.  We then prepare two versions of this file, one as a preview edition and one as the hi-res download.

But wait: there’s more! One of the most popular aspects of our presence at the online store at Licensingonline.ca has been the audio recordings of the psalm. These are vital, especially for those who have less facility with sight reading music,  so we prepare two versions of each of these: a complete file, taken from the CD, which people can buy and download, and a second version that is the 90-second sound sample. This is always more than enough to hear the refrain and usually one of the verses.

If you think it sounds like a complicated process, it is, with about 100 individual steps per title. But we are glad to do it, because of your ongoing support of our Psalms resources, and your ongoing support of Living with Christ.
