The fun thing about being at the premiere of something is that it's one of the only times you can say "Am I the only one who..." and it's actually possible you might be literally the only one.

"Genuinely awful" is 2 stars?

Cool.

May i ask how raunchy it was? Asking since i have parents (who are kinda stingy with that stuff) that wanna see it

Not OP, but it's a very sexual film without being raunchy. There is full frontal male nudity in locker room scenes, no nudity in the sex scenes.

Thank you kindly!

It’s a very sexual film but there’s no nudity in the sex scenes?

Yes.

seems like it will be similar to his other work

Why do people who dislike popular things have to act like they’re victims? Man up and post your review, you don’t have to apologize for it or villainize the majority. It’s more than okay to have a minority opinion! But the “bring on the downvotes” mentality is so obnoxious

Edited

Nothing about this felt like he’s the victim, it’s just a film review. Regardless of that, it’s a very predictable pattern when a few reject what the majority thinks, there will be a bunch of stupidity and ad hominems as a result. Just look at the comment section already.

The very first line is literally “no matter what I say, I know people will throw tomatoes at me”

Which is true! It’s the internet and there will always be mean weirdos. Ignore them. You’re not a victim of anonymous words on a screen.

I guess i worded my review weird when I was high but I was curious to see what other people who had seen it had to say about the movie. I just felt like maybe I didnt get it and was hoping someone would explain what they liked or saw in it. Thats all. Im just sharing my opinion.

Just expressing my opinion, was hoping someone might share why they’d like it so I can get a better understanding 😀 Crazy that posting an opinion on a letterbox subreddit would make me a pick me when wasnt that the whole point of the app?

I always put two stars as something that’s lackluster or not great. To hear that two stars for you is genuinely awful makes me wonder what one star for you would mean

u/PeggenWolfe01 avatar

“Genuinely awful” in the title appears to be an overstatement as reading through the review OP seemed to enjoy at least some small elements

That probably elevates it from 1 star which is “completely irredeemable”.

This. Like madame web was irredeemable. This was like a failed execution on an interesting concept.

I haven’t seen the film, but Zendaya will probably get an Oscar nomination based on the buzz. The universal acclaim is insane, so I’m expecting her to give the performance of a lifetime. I have my thoughts on her (I recently watched Malcolm and Marie if you want some insight), but I’ll keep them to myself until I see what she does with my own eyes. But I doubt the RT score would be so high if it wasn’t undeniably great from an objective standpoint. What the audience consensus is, matters most, of course.

Yes spill the thoughts. I saw Malcom and Marie and the script was also not very great, and the film didn’t land for me. The knife scene she had was pretty good, but beyond that it was whatever.

None of it includes plot details, mentions character development, endings, anything that happens in the story. It more so focuses on the technical aspects of the film

u/RolloTomasi- avatar

“Not a fan of the transitions to the past and present either” I wouldn’t have known this is in the movie unless you spoiled it
