Soundtrack for 2010s science-fiction film Never Let Me Go, directed by Mark Romanek and based upon the book of the same title by Kazuo Ishiguro, the 2017 winner for the Nobel Prize in Literature.
The movie features Carey Mulligan, Andrew Garfield and Keira Knightley as the main cast, playing three friends who meet at Hailsham School and grow up to become organ donors in a future dystopian Britain.
About the soundtrack, Rachel Portman stated in a Grammy interview:
It’s an extraordinary film to be asked to score because the score can have such an impact in it and be part of this world. It was an interesting journey discovering what the music should be for this film. The heartbeat of the film is about human emotions and it’s about people and it’s about love.
