The 1994 comedy “Dumb and Dumber” and its 2014 follow-up, “Dumb and Dumber to,” both starring Jeff Daniels, are two of the most well-known American films of both acting and music. As Will McAvoy on the HBO series “The Newsroom,” for which he won the Emmy for Best Actor, he is also well-known.

In 1981’s American drama “Ragtime,” where he had a minor part, Daniels made his acting debut. His breakthrough performance came in the acclaimed American romantic comedy “The Purple Rose of Cairo.”

He received a nomination for Best Actor at the Golden Globes for his work. Then he had a cameo in the action comedy “Something Wild.” It became a cult classic since it was such a great smash.
