Williams has helped Wales qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar

Nottingham Forest have agreed a £17m deal to sign Wales defender Neco Williams from Liverpool.

The 21-year-old right-back helped Fulham get promoted to the Premier League last season after joining them on loan from Anfield in January.

Williams came through the academy at Liverpool and made his first-team debut against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup in 2019.

He played for Wales at Euro 2020 and helped them reach the 2022 World Cup.

Forest were promoted via the Championship play-off last season.

Williams would be Forest's fourth permanent signing of the summer following the arrivals of forward Taiwo Awonyi, defender Giulian Biancone and centre-back Moussa Niakhate.

Manchester United keeper Dean Henderson has also joined the City Ground side on a season-long loan.

    Welsh Liverpool supporter im sad to see Neco go. Quality player. Wasn't going to oust Trent and would of wasted his career staying on and getting the odd game.. Best of luck Neco, good signing for Forest

    An excellent signing for Forest on paper & with age on his side too. Equally Forest seem to have understood that in order to stay in the PL, they need PL-standard players which is what they are doing now.

    That is an absolute bargain. Quality player but was never going to oust TAA. Shows Liverpool do not hang on to talent just so others can’t have them. E.g. Henderson at Utd

    Forest have done some good deals a good back four and a decent keeper. Let’s hope they have a great season, a decent club Good fan base

    Best of luck to him, don't blame him for wanting to move, 21 years of age, still the potential to be great with the right training and Premier League experience, just happened to fall under a time when there's someone else in his position aged just 23 that is one of the first names on Klopp's team sheet.

    I love that Forest are at least giving it a go at staying in the league. They very well may fail, but they're at least trying.

    Take note Norwich, whose biggest attempt to stay in the PL was buying Steven Naismith for £8.5m ... in 2015. Been up at least twice since then. Norwich love banking the yoyo money so much that when they came up last time they sold their best player.

    Fox just chipping in to say , bravo Forest its good to see a club come up and try and stay up with a few good not desperate signings , we have been bored to tears with teams coming up for the money and dropping down without a care or whimper. Good to have you back and all the best for the season.

    Pool just adding to the nett spend don't worry they wont mention it.

    Good player. At least he will get to play instead of stuck in the U23s at liverpool. They will live to regret it, thankfully.

    Good for Forest showing there intent to stay in the prem, making an already good team even stronger👍. Will cause a lot of teams a lot of problems this season.
