Mosman High School

Mosman High School is proud of its outstanding academic record and its recognition as a centre of excellence in senior studies. This reflects the quality of the curricular and extra-curricular activities offered and the exemplary achievements of its students and staff. Mosman High School aims to develop independent, resourceful and tolerant young men and women, equipped with the personal, social, academic and technological skills necessary in a changing world. Mosman High School has an enrolment of approximately 850 students and is a comprehensive, co-educational secondary school located in the middle of Mosman shopping village. The school continues to run programs for exceptional students with talent in visual arts and drama, music and academic extension. The school also shares the site with the Mosman Community College. The college runs courses for the Mosman Community in the evenings and on Saturdays. In Years 11 and 12 a number of International Students join the school; mostly from China Korea, Vietnam and Japan. These students are highly regarded within the school community. The school's mission statement - 'A school community fostering creativity, individuality and leadership while striving for excellence in teaching and learning' reflects an ethos and tradition that provides students with an education for life in a caring and supportive environment. The school's reputation is well established as providing opportunities for students to seek excellence and achieve their personal best in a wide range of programs.

Maintenance

To ensure the safety, reliability and longevity of our schools, every school across NSW receives maintenance. The Department undertakes preventative and routine maintenance every year, and repairs as needed. The Department also reviews the planned maintenance program for each school every year and reviews those items that are predicted to require work to help prolong the life of the school buildings and facilities.

Demountables

Demountables have been part of the NSW education system for many decades and will continue to be used across the state. Demountable classrooms are modern, air-conditioned rooms that provide students and teaching staff with excellent quality facilities. The learning spaces have the same range of technology that is available in permanent spaces. We review school accommodation needs each year, looking at changing enrolment patterns and other factors to prepare for the upcoming school year. This helps to identify schools that need new demountables and schools where they can removed. Most demountable movement takes place between October and February and we report our annual demountable statistics each April. Additional demountable installations can occur outside this window to support capital works and maintenance projects in schools or emergency responses to natural disasters.
