maria: more parties what you mean. >> i do think we have enough representation i think the two parties are doing an adequate job of supporting and representing the views of the american people and you continuously say that they cannot cooperate on the left and the right, there somebody fractions that are breaking off in an agreement, very different views under the ultimately they cannot cooperate at the end of the day. maria: we will see how they can cooperate and what they need to get done. >> just to piggyback on what hannah said, harvard harris had a pullout showing donald trump of 41% and joe biden 34%. robert f kennedy junior, 22, cornell west 23, there seems to be an appetite for something else and obviously good news for trump is up seven points. overall mike johnson feels like this is the last bullet in the chamber as far as the gop is concerned. they seemed very unified last night i did not see any interviews for many folks saying i oppose this person like we did

with scalise and jim jordan and obviously mccarthy. perhaps they could get over the finish line which which is 17 votes but they cannot lose more than four and that's a tricky proposition to this point, i just checked truth social to see if donald trump is weighed in on this yet because he likes to do truths early in the morning, no endorsement yet for mike johnson it is still early if trump says johnson is the guy that i think he gets over the finish line. that is an important point, johnson no relation to this particular guy, nobody would be foolish to become the speaker. i think you're absolutely right, the real message here that is loud and clear even if it's not on the front page, donald trump is behind the scenes pulling the strings making this happen. from what we can understand mike johnson is donald trump sky which clearly suggests that donald trump is the republican party's guy. i know that we know that but now it looks like it's engraved. maria: i thought byron donalds was donald trump sky.

>> not more. maria: he's endorsing both of them. >> mike johnson seems to be the person that mr. trump wants to have in. i think that's an important message for all of us to appreciate. thus there was any doubt of whose could be the republican nominee. maria: i guess he early said i'm not doing another debate, the next debate in miami. chaos interrupted on capitol hill last night, the war in the middle east intensifying, israeli forces conducted two separate airstrikes, one west bank in another in syria as the war interstate 19. we are awaiting a possible ground invasion. also worth noting is these attacks that we have seen on our own troops and our bases in syria and iraq. that caused anthony blinken to send a warning to iran. >> as he should. maria: i was impressed that he actually gave that warning. it was obviously what to do.

>> without iran there is no hezbollah or hamas they are fully funded by iran in the state sponsor of terror. i do find it interesting and noteworthy that the israelis have not gotten with the ground invasion into gaza given obviously the high casualties and what that means. i wonder if israel in the u.s. see this as it is an escalation of this war that the really taking their time in making sure that they have everything in place before they undo this because once they do you could see iran get involved. maria: look at this top story come up anthony blinken warns iran as militia back to tax. are we going to war with iran. >> think about it the biden approval is 36% as low as it can possibly get, you cannot necessarily go into ukraine or do anything about taiwan but what can you do defend israel, you look tough that helps your

maria: welcome back, the war in israel entering day 19. efforts in gaza are running out as israel ramps up its

airstrikes. fox news correspondent trey yingst is live in southern israel with more. >> good morning the israelis continue the airstrikes against hamas and islamic jihad targets on the gaza strip. we watched as the sky was lighting up. massive explosion along the border, the dental inside of gaza is rapidly rising, save the children says more than 2000 children have been killed, children under 18 senses were erected, 19 days ago. to give you a sense of what it was like on the border last night we listen to small arms fire, explosions and flares by the israelis. we understand you can see in the video and infiltration in the mediterranean sea, hamas militants trying to cross into israel and ultimately both of them were killed, two of them by the israeli navy and both along the border at the beach area, gives you a sense of the ground war that continues here in the southern part of the country with the rocket fire.

today a few moments ago sirens were sounding in the northern part of israel near the city of haifa the third largest city. a long-range rocket from gaza was fired or fire from southern lebanon. we should talk about the northern border, israelis continue their strikes against hezbollah positions. another antitank guided missile was fired into israeli territory earlier today. a lebanese militant group hezbollah looking to put as much pressure on israel is the were in the south develops. maria: yesterday we heard a harrowing discussion about the treatment that the hostages got from the grandmother, what can you tell us about the hostages. how many are left, what do we know about their location? >> we don't know much about their location but i want to read you a statement that was released today by israel's national security advisor. i think he gives new detail about what is taking place behind the scenes. a short statement that

illustrates what is going on right now from the national security advisor saying i'm pleased to say that qatar is becoming an essential part in stakeholder and humanitarian solutions, qatar's diplomatic efforts are crucial at this time, the working behind-the-scenes to get more of the hostages out. maria: there are questions about how complicit or how much we can trust the qatari's given that they have supported hamas in the past. >> in this war, they are acting as only mediator that's been able to get anything done between israel and hamas. the egyptians have tried and failed so far. it does appear according to the statement by israel's national security advisor that the ties are changing and they hope to get more civilians out. maria: trey yingst on the ground reporting in southern israel. hezbollah's leader meeting with top officials from hamas and the palestinian islamic jihad

earlier today as it is really air force says it conducted airstrikes of the west bank and syria overnight, joining the center for american security cochairmen fox news contributor and former national security advisor to mike pence, the author of war by other means, general in the trump white house lieutenant general keith kellogg back with us. lieutenant general, good to see you, give us your reaction to trey's report. >> good morning and thank you for having me. i think he is right on the spot, what he is talking about looking at hamas in the gaza strip right now. i think what the israelis are doing which is smart there preparing a battlefield for invasion into gaza by ground troops which will be really hard and they're probably trading up for, there's a huge training facility in the southern desert in israel. it is about a 600 billion facility, they call it many gaza, that's probably where the training to go when and using munitions like artillery there to soften up the battlefield. there also looking at the same time trying to figure a way with

qatar and other nations how to get the hostages out. it's still about 200 to 12 americans that we believe are held hostage in there trying to get them released or moved to a more secure location before they go when, the israelis are going to go when there's no doubt about it there preparing the battlefield correctly to do it. when trey made the comment which is correct about hezbollah to the north, we, the united states with air pressure on iran is trying to keep hezbollah out of this fight as well. we have influence on iran through force if necessary. what we don't want hezbollah to do is open up a second front on israel, let the israelis fight the fight with hamas in the south, hold onto the north and then we will see where it goes. maria: that is up to iran, the latest morning from anthony blinken is quite stunning, the pentagon confirmed that u.s. troops in the middle east have been attacked 14 times, they are

attacked by drones, rockets in the last week, 24 people have been injured as a result, troops in iraq being a targeted and 11 separate attacks while u.s. forces in syria have also been attacked three times. pentagon official said the attacks have iran's fingerprints all over them and then we hear from secretary of state anthony blinken, he issued a warning to iran about this that the un security council yesterday, let's take a listen. >> the united states does not seek conflict with iran. we do not want this war to widen but if iran or its proxies attack u.s. personnel anywhere, make no mistake we will defend our people, we will defend their security swiftie and decisively. maria: general, your reaction? >> here's a mistake, the mistake that should've been issued by the president of the united states. i remember quite clearly when

the president was at the state of the union, at the state of the union he said quite clearly, if you attack, not kill, if you attack an american you forfeit your life, that came from the president. the president needs to make those comments, he is the commander-in-chief in the one who will release military forces if needed and iran, everybody should understand and make it very clear to iran we know that they have their hands on hezbollah and hamas as well and they need to understand if hezbollah enters this fight you are culpable and we will come after you but anthony blinken's comments were very good but the wrong person issue the comments, those need to come from the white house, those need to come from the president of the united states. maria: that is spot on. do you think we could go to war with iran. >> i don't think -- the answer is yes, we should be able to do and they should believe that. they should fear us and respect

us not just say we don't believe you're going to do it. we have enough combat capability in the mediterranean to do something. iran and the supreme leader needs to understand if you come after us we will come after you. 30 americans have been killed. maria: there have been a lot of attacks on u.s. troops in the u.s. is planning to send the iron dome missile offenses as f-16 fighter it just arrived in the region. your thoughts about this? >> epic is a good idea but the most important thing very candidly that on board the carrier task groups with the ships associated with them are tomahawk missiles that can reach out to tehran, there was 60-mile range that carry 1000-pound warhead on each of them and we need to remind if you really want to push us working on 600 missiles in your backyard and make them believe that, the iron dome was good but is defensive, the f-16 is good but an area or

the bell" followed by amazon tomorrow, join me now wealth chief investment officer john lynch. good to see you, give us your reaction to the earning so far and then will get your take on what we should expect from meta and amazon tomorrow. >> good morning maria, nice to see you again. i think the stock is obviously priced in for success and i think investors should look at a couple of things probably on the magnificent seven with their needs and add revenue is important that's an indicator of not how businesses feeling that consumers are feeling. i would view that as a state of the current economy in the spending on the cloud, the success i have this far certainly at microsoft and their exposure into the partnership with open a.i. is really important. google or alphabet has a little bit more work to do on the cloud and that's reflected in the stock price this morning. adam johnson is with me this morning, this'll be a week of

the a.i., microsoft with its big investment in a.i., chat gtp producer, your thoughts on what you saw. >> the partnership with nvidia, nvidia and arm to build new cp chips for microsoft machines, as far as last night it is a silly game that we play every 12 or 13 weeks trying to gain the earnings. to think that google cloud earnings were up only 22% and microsoft was up 24, therefore microsoft deserves to be up 6% in google down 6%, it is a silly game and i read a couple of notes on google upgrading saying this is absurd. maria: you like the stock? >> yes wargaming around the edges and i think this is computers playing those games. it is not smart people sitting around saying should we sell this. it is computers seeing a headline. maria: i would get your take on rates, the ten year treasury up

top 5% this week, take a look at the tenure at 4.867% up almost four basis points. the journal is writing that 16 year highs and yields congealed the hot u.s. economy. your thoughts on the impact on the spike in rates? >> i think it's important i think investors for the better part of 15 months have ignored the fed and now they're 5%, 5.5% on the short end of the curve in jerome powell the most recent presentation last week reiterated his thoughts on where policy is going and i think investors need to appreciate sense cpi trough and july there up 100 basis points for the ten year. clearly something is going on beyond the fed and i think it has to do treasury issuance once janet yellen announced in august the 30% increase, global investors are staying a downgraded government credit, they see increased issuance and

you will not have the purchasing power from the fed, the chinese, japanese and certainly the banks will not by to what it was purchased. technically it looks like we will go to 20 on the tenure but with geopolitical developments it looks like 5% could be the near-term top. i do expect the tenure to remain elevated in this 480 - 5% range for the next several months. maria: received an impact in the interest-rate sensitive groups we get the september new home sales at 10:00 a.m. eastern economist are expecting new-home sales of new single-family homes to be up 10% 680,000 homes, were looking ahead at tomorrow's first read of third-quarter gdp followed by the september pce index out on friday, how slow do you expect this economy to get as a result of the spike in rates and particularly in the mortgage market? >> i think it was interesting the big banks warned a couple of

weeks ago the markets of past that already will get a good. on gdp tomorrow, i'm not going to spend too much attention to the deflator tomorrow i think the core pce will be the big thing on friday that's the one that the fed looks like if you're in the 3.5 or 3.7% range anything is consistent with higher for longer and that can play into the fed strategy for next year. if you have a gradual decline in core inflation this fed stays elevated on the short end of the curve and the rising real interest-rate scenario where that can be a surreptitious monetary tightening during election year for the fed. maria: what the market in the fed has been messaging the market doing the work for the fed. ro quick do you want to buy stocks here? >> at 4200, not yet. were bouncing around the 42, 4250. i think there is a lot more to

university of california. we are expecting quite a day in new york city as far as the protests go. finally, new details about an alaskan airlines pilot who attempted to cut the fuel to the engines on board to washington to san francisco on sunday. joseph emerson, the 44-year-old off-duty alaska airlines pilot admitted he took in magic mushrooms before the flight, this before he had to be restrained by crew members or after even while he was restrained he tried to open the emergency doors on the plane. this is after they pulled him out of the cockpit, pilots frantically landed the plane and do an emergency landing in portland, oregon. in an interview he admitted he had a nervous breakdown after not sleeping for 40 hours and taking the mushrooms. safe to say, his career is over. 83 counts of murder charges against, attempted murder charges against him. i've seen a lot of things

happened in the air. a flight attendant, i've seen plenty of things as a flight attendant but never seen something like this. maria: unbelievable. >> they are lucky to get out of there. >> it is amazing. i'll make this fast. the cockpit is a very small area in the jump seat right behind the captain, you are right on top of the pilots. he was in that type of proximity on magic mushrooms and tried to cut fuel to the engines. i cannot imagine what the cockpit scene was like but the air traffic control calls are being released and they are also frantic, you can hear the commotion happening in the cockpit of the plane. maria: magic restrooms, unbelievable. >> no air marshall on the plane, that's why he was able to recap it even after they got them out of the cockpit. >> company air marshals on the planes anymore. maria: thank you cheryl. louisiana congressman mike johnson has been elected the new gop speaker nominee, the house

titled house speaker fight republicans this type to unite around a plan not a person. good to see you, thank you for being here. what would be the plan. >> good morning i think the court breakdown are we committed to an appropriation process, and congress the bills are broken into 12 individual bills it covers things like defense, homeland security, labor, health and human services, you name it. instead of one giant omnibus, when kevin mccarthy lost the momentum in the motion to vacate was filed, a lot of it was because we came back and they asked for a 45 day cr continuing resolution and the plan was to take the first 15 and not be in session. people believe the commitment was sincere or that it was not on a path to succeed, ultimately that breakdown facilitated people not being able to unite behind steve scalise and how it all broke down. it's been heavily about how are we going to get after our

appropriation process. maria: do you think you can do it with the time that you have remaining and will mike johnson get to to 17? >> various factions have changed one side or the other at this point. hopefully mike johnson has been the guy that everybody likes him he's a pretty good guy and he laid out a plan that has a chance to succeed. it is been 27 years since we got a real appropriation process and we have a plan provides a 1% cut after january 1. if we do not get done by november 17 which most people think will be hard, at least we get into next year where we are still working i think we can succeed. maria: most people think it's good to be hard that the government will shut down november 17. >> now, meaning we will find a consensus to go there but what's been done in the past is a short-term christmas which sets the stage for an omnibus bill

and i heard from at least or heard about one person who is going to have a hard time getting there. i hope that everyone can. the contrast is stark between an alternative of a coalition government with democrats. the reality both parties are a coalition government we have a lot of fractions that make up the politically and fit them together within the gop. were bradley united behind the platform and we have a plan to execute it. maria: i would ask about whatever top stories, and they deeply controlled the united nations that the u.s. is not seeking war with iran, however, the u.s. will defend itself of attacks on the troops in the middle east continue, this happening while a sponsor draft of revolution on the hamas war leaves out any mention of iran. a spokesperson for the mission to the un blaming russia for iran's mission. i know you were part of the classified briefing on iran, what can you tell us?

>> iran is destabilizing force in the middle east, they fund the proxies that hamas, hezbollah and other proxy malaysians and they all go back to iberian, the cash that goes there has not just the $6 billion that has or has not been able to contribute to this. tens of billions of dollars have slowed to iran via the oil program. under trump at a maximum pressure program, far less cash to operate the country and fund terror. under biden one of the first things he did was free that up and allow them to have more cash in their economy. you see how they have used it. maria: is the u.s. going to go to war with iran. >> i certainly hope not. we should be clear the united states has not been attacked. there are people say if you attack israel you're attacking the united states. maria: what about the u.s. troops. >> that is a challenge. if you attack our troops, we will defend our troops.

colleagues, the squad alexandria ocasio-cortez and her friends, basically blaming israel for all of this. >> i guarantee that the colleagues have not missed it, republicans have been united in standing with israel. it's very much divided my friends were democrats, some of my friends who are jewish whether republicans or democrats especially a pouring and in our own country people defending the 9/11 attacks. shamefully there were some but not the immediate aftermath, the country was united in the idea that you have an outpouring all of her campuses in many of our major cities. at least it's being represented by the squad up to leave and omar but it is not welcome and we will see the body come together. i'm encouraged by ronny jackson not just the resolution but ronny jackson is pushing a measure if you're pushing for hamas you no longer allowed to our classified briefings.

programs because the cost of funding is high because obviously we have to give higher cd rates and with the lower demand on loans because people cannot pay the higher rates, that's why you see some of the banks exiting certain lending programs that are not viable in the marketplace. maria: are you expecting the recession. >> i don't have the jobs numbers have been where they have been every month, that's what saves us. we are concerned that consumer debt is at all-time high. as soon as people start losing jobs, that's were the problems common with the record debt. it is really surprising the job numbers every month. maria: we will in next week we get the jobs numbers next week. chairman patrick mchenry is pushing for legislation to regulate the stable coin industry at a state level. i want to get your take, stable coin, regulation.

>> he might as well say he doesn't want regulation of the stable coin of former crypto at all. putting the at the state level, what he's really saying there will not be any, the states don't have the resources or the intel. has he been to a state legislative session in any of the 50 states recently, states are competing to build roads, books for children, taking care of our seniors, taking care of our veterans and they will give money to regulators that's usually the last priority in any state legislature. maria: he doesn't want to see too much regulation unstable coins besides for the state level but we see a whole host of regulation proposals coming out of this administration, the sec regulators will begin grading banks on which communities in j agar fees that they service online lending with tougher modernizing fair lending. we also have the climate roles coming out of the fcc, what your thoughts of the regulatory

environment for the banks. >> it is been a tough three years with this administration. you have to unleash the banks they are the ones that provide the capital and make the takata be go in. by having the regulations you are increasing the cost of operation and i want banks to hire more lenders not more lawyers, that is the problem that's what we've been doing the last three years. maria: how tight has the credit environment become. >> it's getting tighter and tighter. maria: people cannot get loans. >> banks are withdrawing back because of the high rates, the high cost of funding. banks use your deposits and mind to lend those in the community. with a high interest rate which banks are paying, if there is no demand for certain loan products there withdrawing from the products. maria: i wonder if that's what the reasons the bank stocks were trading down big time going into the earnings release. even if some were a little
