Really fun place. Seems kid orientated but I sure enjoyed it. I've never seen a collection like this. Most of the insects you will see are pinned to collection boards. The variety is mind blowing and beautiful.

There are some live insects displays. Some of them are fascinating. My favorite was the colony of Leaf Cutter Ants that are mesmerizing to watch.

      Don't miss this special place.

Nice spot for a date. Cool that there's a few different sections. Pretty decent experience for the price.

We enjoyed the insectarium a lot. The Insectarium has 4 attractions: The Alcoves, Tete-a-Tete, The Dome and the Great Vivarium. They are laid out in a consecutive path. You first enter the Alcoves which is a cool set of rooms and hallways that are built to give you the perspective of a bee's life inside their hive. After you enter Tete-a-Tete which is a room with 7 glass displays containing some interesting insects - you'll have to have a good eye to find some of them. Next comes the Dome which is a larger room with an impressive 36 displays of insects color coded like a rainbow. And finally you enter the live butterfly conservatory. A butterfly even landed on one of our hats and hung out for a minute or two. It took us 35 minutes to leisurely enjoy the Insectarium.

The Insectarium is next to the Jardin Botanique. It is a separate ticket unless you buy the passport for all 5 "museums" (Jardin Botanique, Insectarium, Biosphere, Biodome and Planetarium). If you entered through the Botanical Garden, to enter the Insectarium, you need to exit the Garden (and show your tickets to re-enter). Then walk down to the building. Inside you can purchase tickets or scan your online purchased tickets. Admission costs C$22.75 adult, C$20.50 senior 65+, C$16.50 student 18+ with card, C$11.50 children 5 to 17y, C$62.75.25 family 2 adults 2-3 children. Children under 4y are free but you'll need to get a ticket for them. When we purchased our tickets for the Botanical Garden, we also tried to buy tickets for the insectarium (same pricing as Jardin) but the sales rep indicated they were sold out and recommended that we head over to the Insectarium ticket booth to check. It was odd because upon hearing this we went online via cell phone and purchased 4 tickets for entrance half an hour later.

Thankfully my friends and I were savvy and got into the garden for free on a Free Day, thus our admission to this insectarium was also free. As a Biology major, I really like going to these kinds of places and am thus thankful that my friends were willing to entertain my little geeky nerd heart.
There were beautifully mounted specimens as well as captivating live specimens, allowing this place to double as both an insect museum and an insect zoo. I'd say the collection was wonderfully extensive.
When we visited, the place was full of kids and their families, so it definitely smelled like little kids. Not surprised since this place is definitely catered towards younger children. I'm not sure if we could really help the smell, but it's something to consider. It's definitely a nice educational place to take your little ones.

Ooooooo what other bug museum have you been to, honestly? This strictly insect-filled bug haven is very close to the Biodome and a ticket here will also get you a ticket to the Botanical Garden. This place exceeded my expectations. It's not just a bunch of pinned dead insects behind glass. No, the Insectarium also has live insect habitats. My absolute favorite one was the leaf-cutter ant exhibit on the top floor. An open small tree with terrariums at the bottom hold a colony of leaf cutting ants. Here, you can watch the ants cut into leaves and flowers. Then, you can watch them walk over a connecting branch to the other side, careying leaves. It's SO AWESOME. I never thought insects could be so exciting.

It's also fun to check out the other live bug exhibits, the rest of which are covered behind glass. We played "find the bug" a few times. A lot of them are very well camoflauged!

I would give this place 5 stars if their bug café was open. This was the main reason I came and I was disappointed I couldn't eat a worm taco. They are only open during the summer months since the café is outside. Pleasepleaseplease open year-round! That is too cool to be seasonal.

I definitely recommend this place, but maybe come in the summer!

Came here with a group of friends during the lantern festival that they put out every year at the botanical gardens as it was included in our tickets. Lots of really cool information that's sure to interest all kinds of people. They have a lot of live species in terrarium that catch the eye, that is if there not blending in with their natural environment ! Plenty of cool facts to read and lots of opportunities to take pictures.

The layout of the place is a little confusing and I wish there were some arrows to point a suggest pattern or place to start and make sure you see everything. Other then that is a great little field trip to go on and the price is pretty decent

I wasn't sure of what to expect coming here, it's part of the Olympic Park in Montréal.

It was fantastic, the displays of different type of insects was very educational and bugs can actually be beautiful, especially beetles. It's a little morbid seeing these creatures dead and on display, but when you think about their lifespans and the fact that they outnumber us, you kinda feel justified.

I would recommend to people who enjoy seeing things about nature and especially love bugs. I think this would be good for families as well, this is definitely geared towards kids.

Oscar from Sesame Street would love it here. Everything is GREEN!

Your admission to the Insectarium is included with your admission to the Botanical Gardens... or visa versa. It is a very educational venue that is good for the entire family. There are a number of interactive exhibits. It's the perfect place to visit and spend an hour or more on a rainy day too.

      It's not easy being green!
      Plenty to see!

Little spot within the Botanical Gardens that has some specimens as well as live displays. There was a "meet the insect" demonstration and the kids were able to touch the stick insect.

Takes about 20-30 minutes to complete the entire place.
