I don’t think I’ll miss her. She was funny, but she annoyed me for some reason. I watched primarily for Bonnie and later, Adam, but I enjoy the supporting ladies as well.
I like Tammy. I think she’s hilarious. I wish they would give Wendy more storylines. All we know about her after 7 years is that she’s a nurse.
Did anyone see Thursday’s episode of Mom? I believe it was the series finale since the show is not returning next year. I have to say this was one of the least satisfying finales I’ve ever seen, particularly as well regarded as Mom was.
The show had Bonnie and Adam continuing their marriage as normal, with her working with Tammy in the renovation business and helping two newcomers to AA. Adam has a cancer scare but it was caught early so you are left to conclude he will be fine. Jill and Andy did get married but they did not have their baby. Margery has reconciled with her son and is loving helping out with her granddaughter.
It introduced two new characters, Shannon, played by the wonderful Melanie Lynskey (Rose from Two and a Half Men) and her mother (Rondi Reed). I’m guessing this was setting up for next season but the show was cancel unexpectedly. The show concluded with an AA meeting with Bonnie giving a heartfelt testimony about her love and gratefulness. Then Wendy asked if anyone else wanted to speak. That’s it.
There was no mention of Christy, her kids, Baxter, Chef Rudy, or Luke. And there was nothing for Wendy. A bit of a let down and certainly not worthy of one of the best comedies on network television. I find that bothersome. Even show Producer Chuck Lorre was dismayed by the decision which was made by CBS and Warner Brothers. I find that sad.
wow, didn't know it was cancelled, I watched that episode although I haven't kept up on it completely over the last few years, as I found the Bonny character a little overbearing.
It seemed like an emotional speech, was excited to see Melanie Lynskey in there as I liked her from Two and a Half Men and was looking forward to next season with her in it.
I agree w/JayCT - what a horrible/worthless ending for a series!! They introduced new characters, injected health issues, etc. My friend and I watched and both hated and were disappointed.
Although the series finally was a let down, I liked to two characters they added.
Daughter - Shannon (Melanie Lynskey) who played Rose on "Two & A Half Men"
Mother - Jolene (Rondi Reed) who played Margaret "Peggy" Biggs on "Mike & Molly"
Both of which were great on those shows. I think they were a perfect addition to MOM.
IMHO they would have brought more life to the show.
I really think "Tammy" wreaked this show. Too many of the episodes revolved around her.
But I do see a possible chance of a "spin off" happening. It could star Melanie Lynskey & Rondi Reed.
The show could be called something like "Anonymous". Of course some of the characters from "MOM"
would be in it on occasion.

My opinion is the finale was to show that Bonnie had come full circle from being the one that doubted AA, was self centered, and hated herself to the one that was now willing to say AA saved her life and give of herself to her husband and friends and to strangers who were just like her. The speech at the end is what AA hopes happens to all their participants and then Wendy asking for who else wants to share is what AA is all about. You have to share where you are in order to mover forward.
The show was cancelled in February and filming went through April. Shows for the rest of the season were still being written. Melanie Lynskey and Rondi Reed were simply two good actors that could work for one episode. It would have be cliched and rushed if they had tied up every little loose end in 30 minutes. This show was never about pretty little bows. If you want, the characters can live on doing whatever you want them to.
BTW, Rosco and Violet are living on a farm upstate with Chuck from Happy Days, Judy Winslow from Family Matters, and Mr. Turner from Boy Meets World.
